Raena exhaled slowly in an attempt to calm her racing heart. She couldn’t show she was afraid, not when this whole thing was her idea.
After Kassian had returned from a meeting with the Emperor, they changed their clothes and left for the harbor. He had claimed that Yulien had given them free rein to do whatever they saw fit, but there was something in the way Kassian said it that made her uneasy. They spent the time needed to reach the stables confirming the plan: get to the harbor together, then the carriage would take her closer to the docks and leave her there. Kassian and his men would be hidden nearby, ready to snatch Elora and Kara once they were released and protect them if necessary.
