****Carlos POV****
Keeping her distance, that's the only thing I wanted. If it was possible for me to give my slave to my brother, I would have done it but no, I can't. She's already my property and I don't joke with my properties. .
Besides, I'm using her to get what our family wants. Not just my family, the whole wolf world. But I'm already disappointed. She's 18 today. Even the fool didn't remember her birthday.
Though it's her birthday, nothing happened. She's supposed to be our key to unlocking our real identity.
The Morgan family thinks that they are being punished every generation because of the debts of their forefathers. Fools!
.
It all started with the foolishness of one of them. She poked her nose into our business and accidentally ruined our life. She thought she didn't do anything because of how little her crime was to humans but it affected the wolves, making them lost their power to change to a wolf. Those that were wolves, remained wolves and those that were human, remained human.
We have to kill the wolves to save our identity and also to save the humans. We hoped that someone from the Morgan family will be able to undo that particular thing. It's her birthday today. I better take her to father but how?
She mustn't know about it.
.
Few hours later, I heard a knock on the door. My eyes travelled to the door, disrupting my thoughts. That was when I knew that I've been out for so long.
I stood up from the bed and walked to the door.
"What to you..." I stopped when I saw that she covered her face with a napkin.
"Your breakfast is ready" she said. I furrowed my eyebrows.
"Why the heck are you covering your face?" I asked.
"You told me to keep my ugly face away" she said.
I rolled my eyes and shoved her aside, walking to the dinning table.
"Carlos..."
She called my name. I stopped and turned to her, grabbing her neck. The napkin she used to cover her face fell as she started choking.
"Stop... Take your hand away" she stammered.
"Next time you call me by my name, I'll kill you" I said to her, threatening her. She just kept coughing.
"I'm sorry...master" she said. Now, that's more like it. That's what I wish to hear.
"Good girl" I commented and walked away. She fell on the floor, touching her neck.
I didn't even use my strength.
Only if your stupid forefathers didn't cut out tree of power, I would have had my powers. It was just a small tree that was two feet tall. Because of that, we are no longer mortal. We are prone to sickness or even worse.
I ate my breakfast alone and sighted Layla walking towards the kitchen with her hand on her neck. She's so fragile.
I could literally see the mark of my hands on her neck.
Just as I watched her, my phone rang.
"Congratulations son, you've gotten your slave. I heard today's her birthday. When are you bringing her to me?"
"Soon" I said. I just needed a way to make her sleep. Just as I thought, an idea popped up in my head.
"Soon, father" I concluded and ended the call.
I called Pablo in and ordered him to get me something. An evil smile appeared on my face as I continued eating.
.
.
Few minutes later, Pablo returned with what I had sent him.
"Master, why are you getting this for her? She's just a slave" Pablo said. I shot him a hard glare. Even him, doesn't know about my secret identity.
"Mind your business. Get the black car ready" I said and turned to leave. His annoying question stopped me again.
"Which of them master?"
"The new one" I replied and walked away. He bowed and left.
"Layla!"
"Coming Car... Master" she spoke softly and walked towards me, lowering her gaze. It was just her first day and I already started treating her bad.
I'm loving this already.
After today, I'll know if to treat her bad or not.
"Raise your head"
She panicked before raising her head. She saw the cake and shot her eyes wide open.
A smile blossomed on her face.
"For me?" She asked.
I folded my arms watching her.
She walked towards the table and cut a tiny piece for me.
"Here" she said.
"Eat and get back to work" I said and walked away.
"Thank you Master! I... I've never gotten a cake before" she said and turned to her cake. I felt something inside my body change after I heard that.
Are the Morgan family that poor? They can't even afford a cake. I smirked and left to my room. I was getting ready to take her to my father's mansion.
I wore a white suit and went back downstairs, just as expected, she was asleep.
I shook my head and walked outside where the car was waiting.
"Go in and carry her" I ordered. The guards exchanged glances with each other before going.
Pablo was even confused. He wish to ask me what was going on but he can't. He was scared.
The guards came with Layla's body and kept it in the car.
"I'll drive" I announced. Again, they were surprised. I was just doing it to hide our identity. I smiled at them and collected the key from my driver.
I started the engine and almost moved. I remembered something.
"Don't touch the cake inside. Throw it away and replace it or wait... Just throw it away" I said and drove off, off to father's mansion.
I got there hours later and the guards rushed her in. They were wolves, descendants from the armies families. They carried her inside the mansion.
Manuel hasn't still left. He was still here. My younger sister was out of the country. She was busy with her modelling job.
"Wow, so fragile"
Those were dad's first words when my father saw her.
"This way" he said and waved his hands. They followed him to the library. He pulled an orange book, creating a secret passageway. Manuel followed behind. I acted like I didn't see him.
She was laid on the altar.
"Do you think she'll be the one?" I asked father.
"It's difficult to tell. It's been long since I did something like this" Dad replied and took a small syringe
"Are you going to inject her?" I asked father, getting scared already. Was I scared of this human? Why?
Father didn't reply to my words. He just went ahead, doing it like he was a professional. He took her blood and walked towards the other side of the table.
Slowly, he injected it into the pot that was filled with sand. They were hoping to grow the tree power again. Every generation, they tried every girl's blood but it didn't work.
"If she's the tree power keeper, you have to keep her safe till our powers are back and the tree has finished growing" father said. I nodded my head.
They waited for some minutes but, still no changes. Her blood wasn't it. She was not the tree power keeper. How disappointing and pleasing at the same time, I don't have to keep her safe. I can do to her, whatever I want.
Dad took off his glove disappointedly.
"Take her away" he ordered the guards and they obeyed.
"Father, that means, we'll have to wait for another generation" Manuel said.
"Yes, we have to wait. But it won't be us, it will be Carlos' son. We will die soon as we are no longer mortal" Dad replied.
"I'll take my leave now father" I said and left. I didn't want to hear their father and son conversation. It was practically none of my business. Living as a human has been fun. I have no idea how a wolf would be but I know we'll have to feed on flesh.
Quickly, I drove back home, hoping to get her back without her noticing. So bad of me to do this to her on her birthday. I turned and stole glances at the tiny figure laying down on the chair behind.
.
I carried her myself into the room I had prepared for her.
"So heavy" I complained. I head towards the table and fetched myself a glass of alcohol.
That was when I heard the sound of chains clanking with soft moans.
She was awake. A smile appeared on my face as I sipped the second time from the glass.
