Chapter One: Friendships

CHAPTER ONE FIRST PERSON POV   8 YEARS LATER   “To the youngest and most successful lawyer in this country” They all raised and cheered aloud with joy and excitement, waiting for me to hold up mine. Putting a halt on my thoughts, I smiled gracefully and raised my glass.   After another successful care, they all pitched in to hosting a grand formal gathering with over a hundred of people. I was satisfied with my hard work, but I was not into the party vibe. I sat down on the bar stool with my floor length, royal blue dress surfing through my phone. I glanced up every other minute as people came to congratulate me.   “Ari!” I hear through the loud music and the chattering of people. Only person could be this loud. I rolled my eyes before swinging from the bar stool and watched her walk towards me.   Mia. Olive skinned, tall and elegant girl whose brown hair were bouncing against her. She was wearing a pastel pink gown which she almost tripped over with her black heels. She came up to me with a cheeky grin and hugged me tightly.   “I’ve missed you” She sighs heavily yet sarcastically.    I scrunched up my face narrowing my eyebrows in confusion. What? I pull away from her and stare. “I live with you” I say in slow motion trying to recollect my own memory.   “Yes, but when was the last time we spoke?” She questions me challenging my memory.    “I asked if you wanted coffee and you said no this morning” I said with an innocent and still confused tone.   She looked at me with a blank face as if I am the biggest i***t in this room. I scoff to myself; I beg to differ. I sigh sleepily just wanting this party to be over so I can lie down in my soft bed and sleep peacefully for the first time in a while. I don’t even like majority of these people but hey, who can act better than me?   I give a knowing look to Mia, hinting to leave this place discreetly.  We leave with my bodybuilding like guard who is able to hide us with his presence. We slid into the black car hiding ourselves from the news reporters and cameras.    “I still can never get used to that” Mia exhales. She looks at her feet and then around the car wondrously.    “MY SHOE!” She screamed and clasped her fingers at the window looking at the lonely one shoe laying down in a fragile manner as we drove away.    I laughed and consoled the crying soul who then turned into a devil.   “YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND I LOVED THAT SHOE” She screamed from the top of her lungs. I rolled my eyes and shut her up by buying her, her favourite ice-cream. She refused to move out of the car and shoved me since I was the reason she lost her ‘baby’. I mean she invited herself to the party so that tells her a lot.   I stood impatiently waiting for my turn as I wandered my eyes around till it landed on a group of highschool friends in a booth sitting, laughing and enjoying their ice-cream.   FLASHBACK   “NO! My ice-cream, get your own” I said in a baby voice looking at my ice-cream holding it tightly to my chest and smiling.   “Aria, I bought it for everyone” Aiden buttered up his eyes and whispered in his baby voice knowing I would fall for it.   “It’s okay Aria you’ve you should just on losing that belly” Zak laughs. I laugh down at my flat stomach already fluttering in anger to just strangle. I glared at him as his expressions formed into terror. I jumped from the sofa and punched his arm hard as everyone laughed.   “She’s a girl as well” Aaron shrieked in laughter.   “She’s f*****g strong” I smiled to myself in satisfaction.   “Party at Matthew’s at 9, you lot on it?” They all looked up from their phones and nodded with a ‘why not’ look.   “Don’t even need to ask Aria, she’ll probably end up there at 10AM” Aiden laughed off as everyone agreed.   I gave a sarcastic smile and held up the middle finger which made Mia laugh so much that the chocolate started to ooze out Mia’s nose.   End Of Flashback
