Chapter 22: A New HopeAs we were leaving the courtroom, I looked down the hallway to see Carter and his lawyer sitting on a bench and talking to that Joey guy, the reporter. McKenna put her arm around me as we slowly made our way past them.
“Clearly the judge could see through Mr. Lawrence’s testimony,” Cuthbert told Joey, “and sided with my client on that front. While he was found guilty, it’s important to note that the punishment usually fits the crime, and a small fine and some probation is a mild punishment. My client is looking forward to having his life back after such a challenging time. He really is passionate about telling people’s stories on the news. This vengeful accusation could very well have hurt his promising career.”
