We were almost at the packhouse, I could already smell Sarah’s cooking. She was a huge help in the house. She did everything. She cooked, cleaned, and did the laundry. Made sure everything was nice and clean. She made it feel more like home. I wasn’t the flower buying type. But I loved what she did to the place. She made sure that all the flowers in the house were either white or red. She didn’t like black roses, so she went for the opposite. It was not like the whole house was black and gloomy.
The kitchen was white with grey tones, the house had massive windows. The darkest place in the house was my bedroom. I just felt at peace there. Lucas’s bedroom was nothing like mine. Crème colored walls, all warm tones. No black, no red. That was reserved for my room.
We walked into the dining room; the table was nicely set for just the two of us. Sarah always went all out. It was pasta night, so garlic bread, pasta carbonara, pizza Quattro formaggi, and some prosciutto-wrapped melon. Lucas and I were quiet the whole meal. We were both starving. The cookies and cake weren’t enough for a lunch. After dinner we both went upstairs, I was tired and needed to clear my mind.
“Don’t you like the company,” Nyx said with a laugh.
I ignored her, I knew she needed to run. But I wasn’t in the mood. I was a bit anxious and excited about what would happen with Jackson’s pack. We don’t have many rogue attacks anymore. So, I needed to blow off some steam. I was rubbing and stretching my neck when Lucas rested his hand on my shoulder.
“Do you want me to help you with that?” Lucas said and started massaging me.
“Not here on top of the stairs.” I took his hand and walked over to my room. The whole room smelled perfect. Sarah changed the sheets every day. She knew how much I loved the feel of clean sheets.
“You can sit on my lap or in front, you can choose,” he said with a smirk.
I took off my training jacket and moved between his legs on the bed and pulled my hair to the front. Lucas placed his hands on my shoulders and started massaging me. I always enjoyed his touch. He brought me comfort and love—without being s****l.
He respected my wishes, but that didn’t mean it wasn’t hard for him or me. He was massaging my shoulders when I, or rather Nyx, started purring. My eyes went open in shock and I could hear Lucas laughing.
“I think Nyx likes it a bit too much,” he said while he continued massaging me.
His hands went a bit lower so he could continue on my back. I pushed a bit back and I could feel his tension rising. They say you can only smell a she-wolfs arousal. But I always tried to smell Lucas’.
“Hmm, why are you pushing closer?” he whispered in my ear, placing his hands on my sides.
I leaned into his touch, glancing back, meeting his gaze before my eyes drifted to his lips, in need to have a taste. Feeling them on mine while his scent burned on my skin, wanting more.
“You’re sure?” he asked when I brushed my lips against his.
I didn’t answer, not wanting this moment to pass. I knew he could smell me, that would be answer enough. He pressed his lips to mine. The way our lips molded together made a warmth spread through my body, but my doubts rose quicker. I leaned back, breaking our kiss. Lucas face fell, his eyes showing the turmoil in his mind, probably wondering if it was wrong to kiss me.
I turned and wrapped my legs around him, with a small hesitation, I leaned closer while he remained unmoved, I slowly claimed his lips. He groaned and one hand snaked around my waist, guiding me closer.
Our kiss changed, as two hungry beast in need for more. My hips grinded on their own, building the needed friction, riding my core on the hard outline of his c**k.
For a brief moment, he mumbled against my lips, “Oops.” And we both laughed. All my never had disappeared and our lips found each other again.
My arousal consumed me, and I wanted more, needed more, but my haze stopped when Garret mind linked me.
“Luna, one of our scouts has been captured.”
I sighed and peeled myself off Lucas’s lap and mind linked garret back, “Who was captured?”
“Gideon.”
“f**k,” I said out loud. “That little prick couldn’t do one thing right.”
“I will take care of it, Garret, pull the rest back.”
“Yes, Luna,” he replied.
“We need to go,” I said to Lucas while getting up and putting my jacket back on.
“What happened, because I need a minute,” he said, looking down at his pants.
I looked as well and gave him a smirk. “You have to contact Jackson for the release of Gideon.”
“Was he really that stupid to get captured?” he said annoyed.
“Can you get Jackson on the phone? I will see you downstairs,” I said, leaving my bedroom.
I went into my office where there was a miniature version of our pack lands and the surrounding lands. I already mind-linked Garret that he should come and bring Riley.
Riley was the best in everything that has to do with smells. She wasn’t our best warrior, but I needed her help. I needed her to teach and train some of our warriors to get better with their noses. It would help in combat I believed. I was already going through a few scenarios about what our best gameplay would be when Garret stepped inside with Riley.
“So, what happened?” I asked Garret while standing over the map.
“He got too close and didn’t notice he was spotted,” Garret said with his hands behind his back. You could see he was feeling guilty for sending out Gideon.
“It’s fine Garret, we just need him back.” I sigh. “Did we at least get some intel?”
“Well the pack isn’t as well protected as ours, we don’t have the exact numbers, but I don’t think Alpha Jackson will just roll over.”
“I don’t expect him to.” A grin formed on my face. I wanted a battle. I needed it.
The same grin painted Garret’s face. “It can be fun.”
We could both smell the fear coming of Riley. “For someone as skilled as you with scents, you sure aren’t good at hiding it.” I c****d an eyebrow at her.
“Sorry, Luna, I don’t know why I’m here.” A tremble lacing her voice and so did her hands.
“Well we don’t have the exact numbers of his warriors, you can use your nose, right?” I asked while standing up straight.
“Yes, I can, Luna.”
“Good.” I nodded to her.
“I have Alpha Jackson on the phone, Luna,” Lucas said while walking in with the phone in his hand. I put out my hand and took the phone. I put the phone on speaker and placed it on the map. I wanted everybody to listen in on our conversation.
“Why do I have a little wolf on my lands,” Alpha Jackson said angrily.
I laughed. “I think he took the wrong turn. He is not that bright.”
I could hear his anger in his voice. “That’s not what he said, Aurora. We have a long-standing peace.”
I cut him off before he could continue, “That is Luna Aurora to you.”
I could hear his breathing through the phone. “What do you want?”
“I want to merge,” I said with confidence. “I know your pack keeps getting attacked by rogues and I think if we would merge, we can stop those attacks.”
“That is kind of you, Luna aurora. What is the catch?” he asked, sounding more relaxed.
“Your pack would become my pack. You will no longer be Alpha. We will expand towards your lands.”
“Never,” he said with a growl.
“I hoped you would say that.” A smirk formed on my face.
“I will let Gideon go as a sign of good faith. But my answer stands. You are not strong enough to take on my pack,” Jackson said with his voice stern and laced with rage.
“Don’t underestimate me, Jackson,” I said in an angered tone.
Hearing Riley whine, I scoffed. I didn’t even let my aura out and she already trembling in fear. Jackson hanged up the phone. I looked over to Garret and Lucas. “So there goes our element of surprise.”
“As we needed it,” Lucas said, crossing his arms. “He has no idea how strong we are.”
“He will find out,” Garret said proudly.
We got over some plans for the attack. We all agreed to attack tomorrow around five. First, we needed that cocky Gideon back and see if he knew something that could help. And have a “conversation” with him about why he spilled the beans on why he was there.
Gideon kept on disrespecting me. He needed to be put into place. After two hours Gideon was back. Garret made sure he went straight to the pack house so that he couldn’t talk to anyone else before me.
When he got here finally. He didn’t look roughened up. He didn’t look like he was in a fight.
“So, you didn’t even put up a fight,” I said disapprovingly.
“Well, I was surrounded,” he said with that same cocky undertone.
I growled at him; he didn’t expect I me to be mad. “You keep on disappointing me, Gideon.” I sighed, trying to remain calm.
He didn’t reply. He just stood there angrily. He didn’t respect me. He feared me to some point. But respect never. He had nothing to tell us, he was blindfolded the entire time.
“Did you smell something?” Riley asked with kindness in her eyes.
“No, I didn’t pay attention,” Gideon said with a shrug.
With everything he said and how he acted I couldn’t help myself. I couldn’t stop the anger from rising. I tried to hide it, push it down.
“We will kick his ass again after everything is over,” Nyx said and let a flow of calmness run through me.
I shook off the feeling Gideon was giving me and said he wouldn’t be in the battle tomorrow.
“Are you really going to attack Alpha Jackson’s pack? Why not Luna Freya’s pack? She is much smaller than his,” Gideon said with an attitude.
I tried to stay as calm as possible and just as I wanted to speak, Garret did for me, “Are you questioning your own Luna?”
Garret’s form changed. His eyes filled with anger. Garret had the most respect for me. From the moment I became Luna at fourteen. He never once questioned my decisions.
“Our Luna is the only reason why we are still all alive, you need to learn your place boy,” his claws got out, he wanted to rip Gideon’s head off. Riley started to whine again and moved backward.
I grinned and shook my head. “Thank you, Garret, but there is no need to punish him at this moment. He will learn his place in time.”
Garret nodded to me and relaxed, I saw the little fear Gideon built up in his eye leave. I told everyone to go home and get some sleep. We didn’t have time to train the other warriors with the help of Riley, so she just has to come with us tomorrow. I didn’t let Gideon go home alone. Garret took him with him. He didn’t want to lose him out of his sight either. There was a possibility he turned sides. But it didn’t matter to me. We would win tomorrow.
When everyone left, it was just me and Lucas again. He walked toward me with a smirk. I knew he wanted to pick up where we left off. I stopped him by placing my hand on his chest. He started purring. I chuckled and looked up into his eyes. His beautiful light green eyes with just some flecks of gold. I wanted to pull him closer again and kiss him. But I knew we had to get some sleep. Tomorrow is a big day and we needed to be well-rested.
“Sorry Lucas, but we need to get some rest,” I said with disappointment.
Lucas put on a pout. “Fine, but we still having a sleepover.”
His eyes lit up when he saw the smile that was forming on my face, “I would like that.”
We went upstairs, I took a quick shower and so did Lucas. He wanted to shower together again but he knew I needed a bit of space to think everything over. When I got into bed, I had the feeling I could breathe again. I was happy and content with to upcoming battle. I felt at peace with the decision I made with Lucas. Maybe there was space for a bit of love in my life. I shouldn’t think like this. It would only jinx it. Lucas got out of the bathroom and hopped into bed. He pulled me closer and kissed me on the forehead. He didn’t seem to notice I was naked.
I felt Lucas stiffen up. “Ow, I forgot you always sleep naked.” A small blush formed on his face.
“You didn’t seem to mind yesterday,” I said while pulling in closer.
Lucas moved a bit away and put both his hands under the sheets. With a little wiggle, he tossed his boxers out of the bed.
“So, that’s better,” he said.
He moved closer again and kissed me softly on my lips. I felt every bit of love and comfort he put in that kiss. I pulled him closer. We stopped kissing because we weren’t going to go any further. I fell asleep in his arms. Like I did many times before. But tonight, was different.
