"Are the gingerbread cookies available?" the woman inquired with a sense of hope.
"Regrettably, they are not," I responded. "However, I believe a fresh batch will be ready shortly. Would you like to wait?"
She checked her watch before answering, "I have a tight schedule. I will return tomorrow."
I nodded while entering a few numbers into the register. I handed her the change along with the receipt for her order. "Your order will be prepared soon. Feel free to browse the bookshelves in the meantime."
