Adam’s POV Bel seemed unable to grasp my reluctance to share personal details with someone I barely knew, and instinctively, I felt the need to defend the relationship that my friend was so eager to criticize. "What about the positives?" I asked, trying to shift the focus. "Positives? Like how she treats you like royalty when it’s just the two of you? It’s not rocket science, Adam." That was the tipping point for me. My frustration boiled over, and I suddenly found myself not wanting to engage with Bel anymore. Usually, I valued her candidness and straightforwardness, but today was different. Perhaps I was already on edge, but all I wanted was to retreat home, feeling as though Bel was using my situation to impress the girl next to me. I slid off my stool and grabbed my coat and bag.
