The Winter Ball

*Third person's point of view      When Aurora woke up that morning the maids were already inside her bedroom. She saw the food tray next to her bed so she knew it was already past breakfast.      "Why didn't anyone wake me up sooner?" She thought to herself as she reached for the glass of water to have a drink.      She was already running late so the maids interrupted her breakfast time and rushed her to the bathtub. There were many lovely fragrances coming from the water so Aurora relaxed and took extra time cleaning her tired body. She closed her eyes one last time before signaling for the maids to bring her robe.      Aurora began to feel uncomfortable because maids kept going in and out of her room with dresses and accessories. She was about to yell for everyone to get out, but then she saw the Luna enter her bedroom. She could see the distress in Aurora's face so she ordered all the maids to leave her bedroom.      Aurora sat on her bed and took a deep breath. She was grateful that the maids were no longer in her room.  She hugged her mother-in-law began to explain how she had no outfit ready for tonight and how she didn't feel ready for such an event. The Luna saw that Aurora was on the brink of tears so she stopped her from talking.      "Sweetheart, everything is going to be okay. First let me apologize for leaving such a difficult task for you to do alone. I imagined you were not going to have time to prepare your own things so I hope you don't mind this, but I actually took the liberty of preparing an evening gown with accessories for you."      Aurora was very grateful towards the Luna. No one had ever been so kind to her so she was very grateful that her mate's mother was this kind hearted women sitting next to her.      The Luna assigned three of her personal maids to get Aurora ready. The gown she picked for Aurora to wear was beautiful. It was an ice blue ball gown with a flowing skirt, attached to a bodice that was studded with crystal drops and had a low-neckline with off the shoulder sleeves. Her slippers were also ice blue with small crystals that traveled down the heel. For her makeup, they put on some blush and a soft pink color was added to her lips to give her a fresh glow. Her hair was placed in soft curls entwined with small crystals and her neck was decorated with a diamond necklace that fell on her collarbones.      When Aurora saw her reflection in the mirror, she could not believe she was looking at herself. She had never worn anything as beautiful as this gown and she did not recognize the woman in the mirror. For the first time, Aurora really believed she looked very pretty.  *Jonah's point of view     The ball was about to start and there was still no sign of Aurora. My parents were currently greeting the alphas and members of the neighboring packs who continued to arrive at the castle. Since this was going to be the first time we attended a social event as husband and wife, it was very important for both of us to walk into the ballroom together.     Who was I kidding? I was more worried that Aurora was too tired to attend the ball she planned with such effort. I had seen her work from morning to sundown these past weeks. She only took small breaks to eat and then continued her planning. The only good thing about her being exhausted was that I was able to visit her at night and hold her in my arms. My poor mate was too tired to even notice my presence, but I didn't care. Being close to her felt so good. I looked forward to the night time because I Knew I was going to be able to hold her in my arms again.       I lost my patience and ran up the stairs towards her bedroom, but just as I was going to reach for the door, one of the maids opened it and then I saw her. I could have never prepared my eyes for this site. Aurora looked beautiful. I had always known my mate was one of a kind, but she stood out so much more dressed in her ice blue gown. I could not allow all those hungry wolves to see my mate in full bloom. Her beauty was hidden from everyone except me, but after tonight all eyes would be on her.      "Jonah, is everything okay?"      My selfish thoughts were interrupted by her sweet voice. I shook my head and reached for her to grab my hand, which she did instantly. I wanted to make small talk with her before we were surrounded by idiots in the ball room.     "I'm sure you know this, but we are running a little late."        Aurora's expression saddened, but I knew exactly what she wanted to hear.      "But, since you look this beautiful, everyone will have to shut up about it unless they have a death wish."     She looked up at me and smiled. I knew she was nervous and anxious, but I wanted her to know she looked stunning and that tonight would be perfect. If anyone dared to disrespect my mate they would be very sorry.     When we went into the ballroom everyone's eyes were on us, but mostly on Aurora. The females envied her and the males stared in awe. In that moment, I wanted to take Aurora back to her room and mark her so that everyone knew she belonged to me. We made our way towards my parents and stayed there having small talk with the guests.      I was aroused the moment I saw Aurora, but I thought it would die down when we began to mingle. That did not happen which made me grow angry and having all these people around her made me become even more possessive. This was going to be a long night, but I would bare with it because Aurora worked very hard for this event to happen.      The last alpha to arrive was Aurora's father. He greeted us with a handshake and showed no affection towards his daughter. He then followed my father to his office, where we would all have a meeting about the future plans for the packs. Normally, I was not a part of these meetings, but as the next alpha to the Arcada pack this was another one of my responsibilities. I didn't want to leave Aurora alone, but I knew she would be okay with my mother.      "Don't go anywhere by yourself. Understood?"     Aurora turned to look at me with a confused expression, but when she saw the anger in my eyes, she nodded and stayed behind with my mother as I walked away from her.
