No Room For An Escape

1081 Words
Mira's Pov My eyes widened in terror as the Lycan prince fainted on me, his heavy body pinning me to the bed. I struggled to push him off, but he was too heavy. 'What the hell is this?' I couldn't help but rant as I realized I have been trapped again. Was he trying to play games with me? I couldn't fathom all that was happening. With my trembling body, I managed to wriggle free from under his limp body as I scrambled off the bed, my heart racing with fear. "This isn't going to get any better," I told myself. What am I to do? My eyes scanned the room frantically as I thought of what to do next. I was in the closed room with the most brutal Lycan Prince who had fallen asleep which I couldn't explain but I knew I shouldn't be here any longer knowing he was still going to wake up. "Escape, Mira, escape!" The voice in my head rang and that was it. That was all I needed to do, to escape. I let out a heavy sigh as I began to search for a way out. The door was locked behind us but I was sure the guards would all be standing in front, waiting for us. What am I to do? Just then, I heard some retreating footsteps and something told me to check it out. I tiptoed to the door to avoid making sounds, not wanting to alert anyone and carefully clicked the lock opened. The door squeaked open but I made sure the sound wasn't loud as I brought out my head to peep through it. All I saw was the long, almost dark corridor. I hesitated for a moment. That meant, the guards were no longer around? I decided to act so fast. I gently stepped into the corridor, my bare feet making slightly a sound on the cold stone floor with fear gripping me from head to toe. It was a risk. I knew it but won't I rather take this risk than end up being dead in the hands of the prince? My legs started to carry me as I raced my way down the corridor, praying that I get off the loose as soon as possible. There were a series of twisting passages and narrow stairways which I navigated as best I could, trying to find a way out of the castle. But no matter how far I walked, the corridors seemed to loop back on themselves. I was starting to feel like I was trapped in a maze. Just as I was beginning to lose hope, I heard the sound of footsteps echoing down the corridor. I froze, my heart pounding against my chest. In a blink of an eye, I saw a group of guards appearing around the corner, their faces stern and unyielding. "No escape for you, Mira. Not now." I knew I was caught. The guards closed in swiftly on me, their hands grasping for my arms while I tried to struggle and kicked back even after knowing I was no match for their strength. Their hands tightened on me as they swirled around and bundled me back to the room where I had started, throwing me inside with a loud clang. I landed hard on the bare floor, my body aching from the rough handling. Tears streamed down hurriedly. I couldn't help but tell myself the truth. I wouldn't be able to escape, there would be no way out for me. I looked over to the bed but the Lycan Prince was no longer there and I needed no one to tell me that they've taken him away or rather he has woken up. I sat there on the cold floor. I had failed to escape, and now I was going to face double consequences. When was this going to end? What has gone wrong with my life? Why must I have to face all of these without doing anything wrong? My father was innocent, I knew it. He had been framed by the pack for a crime he didn't commit. "Why?" I continue to whisper to myself, my eyes welling up with tears. Why did they have to frame my father? Why must it be my life? Now, ending up with a prince I couldn't understand anything about. I raised my head to the ceiling. Wasn't the moon goddess seeing all of these that were happening? Why had the goddess decided to abandon me? Why had she allowed me to suffer so much? I cried so much that I lost all sense of time with my body starting to feel the effects of hunger and thirst. I was used to it but the situation I found myself in made it worse. Just when I thought I couldn't take it anymore, I heard the door creaking open, only for me to raise my head and to face him. He wasn't alone this time around. Four women stood behind him, their faces cold and unforgiving. My heart sank as I realized I was in grave danger. "Bring her out." His voice was low and commanding. I shielded my eyes, blinking away the tears that had formed from their sudden appearance as the women stepped forward, their hands grasping mine. I began to struggle. "Let me go!" I shouted, trying to break free. "Please, let me be! I don't want to be here!" The women ignored me, dragging me past the prince and I couldn't help but confront him. "Where are you taking me?" I demanded, trying to keep my voice steady. "What are you going to do to me?" He ignored me and shut the door behind us as he took the lead. We followed after him while his guards walked behind us. It was the most devastating moment of my life. I couldn't tell what was happening or rather did I have anyone who could help me explain the situation. As they pulled me away, I caught a glimpse of the Lycan prince's face. For a moment, I thought I saw a tinge of emotion in his eyes. But it was quickly replaced by his usual stoic expression. My heart sank, my fear and anxiety spiking as they dragged me deeper into the castle as the women's grip on my arms was like a vice. I had no idea what lay ahead of me but I knew it couldn't be good.
