Kat, Bee, Lacy, and Sophie were all thrilled for Joan’s promotion, though there was a quiet sadness in their eyes. Losing their friend to a new role had left a space none of us was ready to fill. It was hard for me, standing before them, knowing they were wondering why they hadn't been invited to join me.
