“Normally we would have to go on through different rooms and other strange places before getting to the boss of this place, but he has made it easier today. He seems to be interested in us perhaps.” Zaron said as they approached the curtain. They all entered the room one after the other, and to their surprise, the room was plainer than some of them had thought.
“Welcome customers! Zaron! How have you been? it’s been a while?” The boss said.
“What a fun place you have here. Surely you are the one in control of the magic array in play here, but are you the one who put it up? It seems not.” Julius said as soon as he walked in.
“My my, someone’s incredibly rude. It seems you boy, needs to be thought a lesson.” As the boss said this, Julius was immediately teleported from the group into an unknown room somewhere else.
“Controlling the space and within the building, and he’s quite proficient in it too.” Before Julius thought of moving, he heard a voice that seemed to echo like it came from a distance and empty space despite the normal size of the room he was now in. The voice most definitely was that of the boss and it taunted him, probing him to escape from the room if he could, and although the room had no visible door or windows, Julius still made effort to walk towards the walls in hopes of finding a clue. ‘I can easily break out of this place, but I should play along for a while. Certainly there’s no harm in that.’
As Julius took a few steps towards the wall facing him, the wall elongated several meters and the more he walked towards it, the more it elongated, creating a never ending stroll. He tried to walk towards the other walls that were still normal, but like an illusion, the wall he turned to face inherited the feature of the wall he was facing before turning. If he turned to face a different wall from the one he was facing at the moment, the wall he was now trying to walk towards would start elongating while the one he was no longer facing would return to normal. This was similar to the fish effect/fish vision, where the front view always has dept, creating a tunnel view of the world around (This is actually how fish see things in real life, that’s where the name fish vision comes from. Either fish vision or fish view, something like that.)
Back at the office, rather than the reaction Julius thought his companions would have, they were rather calm even after seeing him being abducted before their own eyes. At first Nora had reacted instantly charging forward to attack the boss of the place, but Emilia held her back and calmed her.
“Why do you stop me? This is clearly an attack against us, we have o retaliate immediately!”
“Calm yourself Nora. You don’t think you’ll be able to face him, do you? If he was able to easily do that to Julius, what makes you think it will be any different with you?”
“But still! We can’t just stand still and do nothing!”
“Who said we’ll be doing nothing.”
As Emilia said that, she moved closer to the boss’s table and demanded a chair for each of them. This behavior was unexpected, but the boss had a solution nonetheless. He immediately did the same thing he did to Julius, moving her to a different space within the place, but to is surprise, she still stood there very unaffected by whatever he had done. ‘What is this supposed to mean? Why doesn’t it work on her?’ He immediately tried it with Nora but nothing happened. Since he didn’t have to move for him to control the array, the others apart from Emilia didn’t know he had just tried to do something to them.
“Who are you?” He asked a little colder than his normal expression.
“I thought I requested chairs to be given to us. Where are they?” Emilia responded.
After a little moment of quite, he ordered his assistant to provide them with chairs. But Emilia didn’t seem pleased with them. “Is this the type of chairs you’ll give to a guest? I understand the look you are going for with your plain looking office, but that gives you no right to transfer that quality to a guest’s chair. Does it now?” The look she gave him while saying this was like that of someone looking at an insignificant poultry animal about to be killed.
After swallowing a sizable ball of spit, he turned to his assistant, “provide the esteemed guests with quality seats.” ‘How can she be this powerful?’
“Come Nora, sit.”
“I admit that you are strong, but the boy is already far gone, by now he should be reaching his limits. You should let go of your over the roof ego, if not that boys dead body is all you’ll get.”
“My my, how exactly did such a situation turn so hostile so fast?” Emilia said with a little smile on her face. Meanwhile, Zaron who had been there dumbfounded, not knowing if he should convince Emilia to calm down or the boss to mellow down could do nothing in the end than follow the lead of His master’s wife.
“Don’t worry Zaron, relax and have more faith in your master. This should be over soon.” Emilia said to Zaron, pointing him to seat on the empty seat beside Nora.
