Chapter 26

1830 Words
‘All the types??!’ “Incredible...” Emilia said in a soft surprised voice. “Alright now, rest up. I’ll take you out of the cave today.” “Where are we going?” “To bath.” ‘To bath? Do I stink? I mean, I haven’t bathed since we entered the underworld, so I’m probably stinky right now! And has been the one taking care of me for days now...arrhh...’ “Don’t worry, you don’t stink that much.” “That... much.. So I do stink?” “You’re good. Stop worrying yourself. Heh. I would have cleaned you up with a towel, but I figured you’ll be angry if I did. Besides, I don’t want to be branded a p*****t by anyone.” “Oh, That’s...” “Rest up and stop stressing yourself, if not the treatment won’t work.” Later in the evening Julius took her outside for the bath, but before that, Emilia started heating up again. Using the development, Julius deduced from it that his holy magic might not be able to completely treat her, and so he started going through other scenarios in his head. Emilia might not be very important, but he still has uses for her. So he will at least try to save her life. ... Just in case anyone was thinking it, yes Julius was in no way a “good guy” neither was he a bad person or evil person, but he was kind. He just does things his own way, and might sometimes make decisions that people might look at as unreasonable. The nick name Harbinger of Death wasn’t given to him merely because of his strength, he showed no mercy towards his enemies and cared deeply for those he held dear to himself, and no body that threatens him unreasonably is speared. That was the kind of man he was. He had experienced much in his short life to make him that way. So to Julius, Emilia wasn’t an Important person, and her death would do no harm, him taking care of her was just him being kind and him securing a person that he deems talented. ... The stream Julius found while searching for herbs was quite far from their cave, so a little walking was in place for them. But he wasn’t taking her to the stream; instead, they were headed to the place where the stream started. After walking for a bit, Emilia couldn’t continue anymore, so Julius used a spell to levitate a board so that she could ride on it without having to move her body. Unfortunately, they couldn’t move too fast, because whenever they tried, Emilia would vomit (So they were moving at about 12m/h, not like walking). Normally, she didn’t have any motion sickness, but t seemed like she does now. Maybe it could be related to her illness. After about 15 minutes, they finally arrived at the spot where Julius was taking her to. In front of them stood a tall cliff of about 200 feet long with water pouring out of the c***k in the middle forming a pond that flew outwards to form the stream Julius found before. “WOOOW. This place is beautiful!” Emilia said as they approached the pond. “Yeah? I found it when searching for herbs. Come on.” Julius helped her down and dispersed the effect of the magic on the board. Then before anything else, he lifts a finger up while his palm was facing the sky, and a wall of earth rose in the middle of the pond, separating the water into two halves. “Luckily I bought soap, but I only have one sponge, and obviously, I’ll be the one using the sponge.” Julius said. “Oh, can’t you just cut the sponge into two?” “No.” “Why the huge wall, you certainly aren’t unable to control yourself.” “Aren’t you going to wash your face? I’m not that eager to die.” “Ahh, make sense.” Both of them prepared themselves and started bathing. The water was just a little bit cold, and Julius used some kind of spell before them entered which made the water feel soothing to the skin. Emilia over at her side was enjoying the comfort of the water as she thought to herself quietly as she let her curled up self sink to the bottom. ‘This is... I mean, he saw my face. But he’s ok. He thought it had to be my full face that had to be seen before the curse would take effect. But seeing even a part of my face will trigger the curse, and then death follows. This only means one thing... ahhh... Why’d it have to be him? Although he takes care of me so well, I can tell clearly that he has no such thoughts towards me. Heh...’   A few minutes pass while they are bathing, and Julius notices something. Although his soul sense technique wasn’t activated, it didn’t mean his senses were dumb. He noticed a group of people running towards them, but above the cliff. Instead of acting and taking action, he remained normal, as if nothing was going on, while Emilia who had noticed nothing continued her bathing. After some seconds, the people atop the cliff started talking, but they were speaking in a different tongue, so Emilia and Julius couldn’t understand. Some seconds after the voices went through the forest because of how loud they were, Emilia crossed over to the side Julius was. Julius was sitting towards the shallow sides of the pond, where the water only went to the knee level, and now that he was sitting, it was at about chest level to him, while it only went up to Emilia’s thighs. “What are you doing here? I’m sure the wall is here for a reason.” He said while paying no attention to her. “I’m sure you’ve heard the voices.” “Yes, It seem to be 3 men pursuing a girl.” “... How’d you.. Know?” Opening his eyes slightly, he answered. “Through listening. Submerge yourself in the water up to chest level, unless you don’t mind people looking at your naked body.” “You are not people to me now.” “What if it’s not me?” On hearing that, she moved inwards, towards the centre of the pond where it’s deeper. Julius was already standing where the water was at waist level. The water didn’t help much in concealing the parts submerged because of its clarity. Just as the water reached Emilia’s neck, some chunks dropped from the top of the cliff into the water, following the chunk of rocks was a girl. She seemed to have landed in shallow waters that would only go up just above knee level, and she remained there. She struggled to stand for a bit before giving up. Just before her head went under the water, 3 men jumped one after the other from the top of the cliff, into the water; they were fine as they seemed to have used magic to soften the fall greatly. In reaction to seeing the men, Emilia turned around to look at Julius who was behind her, but to her surprise, he was already out of the water, wearing his trousers without a shirt or shoes. ‘When did he get there?’ Even in this situation, she noticed that he was still very calm and composed, not rushing even a little bit. As she turned to face the men who were now standing afloat the water using circular blocks of ice they must have formed with magic, they looked at her noticing that she was very weak (this was because of the illness she had that disabled her from using magic. So to one who didn’t have high mana sensitivity, they wouldn’t notice). As she looked at them, she turned her back to them and faced Julius who was now holding the girl that fell from the cliff, ‘how is that possible? I only took my eyes off him for a bit. And that girl, she was in front of me behind the men, and yet...’ “You don’t mind?” Julius asked “Don’t worry, they won’t get to see anything.” Julius looked past her and watched the men that stood on the floating ice blocks fall into the water. This surprised him a little. ‘It must be the curse she spoke about. But. How is she that fast? To remove and close her mask that fast. She might be more useful than I thought.’ “Hmm.” He responded while dropping the girl on the ground. ‘It seemed like he must have noticed. That or thought I was just very fast.’ “I’ll do CPR on her immediately. “No need for that.” Julius placed his hand over her chest, then small strings of green lines started forming over her chest and stomach, and in seconds she was coughing out water. As she came to, all she saw was a blur, just before she passed out again. “Wow, was there such magic? I know magic is very flexible, but I didn’t know it could be used like this.” Emilia who was wearing her cloths now said as she moved closer.” “She passed out again. Go back to the cave, I’ll meet you there later.” “What do you plan to do with the girl?” “I’ll wait here for a while for her to rest, then; I’ll wake her up if she’s still passed out. After questioning, I’ll decide whether to kill her or not.” “Hmm. I have no reason to stop you... I don’t know how to get in... how do I get in.” “Really? Look at your wrist, the red dot is your pass, now go. No need to worry about an attack since there are no creatures around this place, right? And if you do get attacked, don’t stay to fight, instead escape back to the cave, it’s your best defence.” “I know that much you know?” She shrugged a little. “And how did your mask break that much? It’s all the way to your nose now.” “I did it myself to test something.” “What’s that.” “We’ll talk about it when you get back. I also wanted to discuss it with you too.” “mmm... go now, I’ve prepared the board for you.” Emilia climbed the board, and it took her away. It seemed like the magic Julius used on the water was holy magic because she felt better than when they got there. After a while, when the sun fully set, “I’ve waited enough, it’s time to wake up.”
