Chapter 29

[I will be addressing the genders of humanoid demons the same as human]

“You’re awake Nora?” Julius’ voice travelled through Emilia’s ears subtly. ‘Wait.. Nora?’

“Nora?” She said out loud as her thoughts slipped into reality.

“Oh, Emi, you’re also awake. Let me reintroduce both of you.”

“Emilia, this is Nora, the girl that fell from the cliff and now supposedly she is my servant. Nora this is Emilia, she was the one who insisted on me helping you, and supposedly, she is my wife from today.” Julius introduced them with such blend voice and expression that it took away the weight behind the whole façade.

“Ahh, she changed so much in such a short time. It’s totally unbelievable. She’s also quite beautiful.”

“AH ah.. Nice, it’s nice to meet you ma’am.” ‘Who are these people exactly, I know that master is strong, but I only deduced that from his versatility with magic and how easily he cast his spells. I couldn’t sense how much mana he had, which was a barrier already, but now… This lady’s mana pressure is too fearful.’

“Drop the Ma’am thing and just call me Emily.”

“You should also drop your pressure. She isn’t in good condition for that. And also, you recovered quite the amount of mana, impressive.”

After the awkward introductions and small talks, Emilia and Nora went to the side of the cave where Julius positioned small wooden benches he made from the trees outside the cave. They sat there waiting for him to serve them breakfast, due to the fact that they were in bad condition; they had the luxury of eating his meal. Emilia’s cooking was ok, average at most. She didn’t need to worry about the taste when she only ate to survive. Nora on the other hand might actually be a decent cook, but all her recipes were demon food recipes, apart from the ingredients, the taste wasn’t guaranteed to suit human taste buds.

During the meal, Julius explained their current situation to both Emilia and Nora. Since neither Nora nor the ones sent to retrieve her returned to their master, they’ll grow suspicious and might send a search group the next time. So till Emilia fully recovered, she wasn’t allowed to go out. As for Nora, she isn’t strong to begin with. Julius had also discovered the location of the one controlling Emilia, and after he told Emilia, she was slightly sad and felt weak. The fact that she was able to be controlled that easily was a sign that she was still too weak, was what she thought. After their breakfast, Julius was going to go ahead with Emilia’s treatment. Luckily, he found a different way to break the spell that had affected her core without having to sleep with her, so he would be trying that. Nora’s might be the next day or a few days after, according to Julius.

“Mistress Amma, we’ve lost contact with the men who left in pursuit of the girl. Odds are that they are probably dead, but the fate of the girl remains unknown.” A man (demon) wearing red leathered clothing spoke while prostrating before the woman who was seated on a luxurious red padded chair.

“mm. The girl was a good experimental subject too. Send out 5 recruit members to search for her, they should be enough.”

“Yes Mistress.”

The day went by, and since Amma had nothing to do due to her empty schedule today, she just lounged around enjoying herself and relaxing. While returning to her room in the evening, something unexpected happened. A sharp sensation pierced through her head, which caused her to pause momentarily before continuing on her way to the bedroom. ‘What does this mean? It’s not possible, not possible!’ “To think a mere human would be able to break my spell. No, it’s impossible. Someone must have helped her.” ‘I need to send people there immediately.’

“All done.” Julius finally completed the treatment on Emilia. Because of how the spell was structured, it was impossible for it to be removed without the normal procedure, but that problem was sorted out by Julius quite easily. Instead of following the normal process set by the one that casted the spell, he used something more of like a back door. He reconstructed some portion of the spell structure, changing some properties to make it favour himself. He originally wanted to change into a reverse tracking spell, but he hadn’t fully understood demonic magic yet and how it worked. Although he hadn’t yet understood it, after studying the spell placed on Emilia and comparing it with human magic, he was able to grasp a portion of how their magic worked. And after applying his knowledge, he fully cancelled the spell on her. But before cancelling it, he did a little reverse engineering and used the connection the spell provided between the caster and the one affected by the spell to see the location of the one behind the spell, the one who was controlling Emilia.

After some days past, 3 men (demon) went into the plains where Julius’ cave was, they had received orders from Amma to join the men who were previously sent to find the slave that escaped and complete the new mission. In this situation, the slave was less important compared to the recent development. These 3 men were quite strong and should be able to rival the royal guards of King Bael. Even though the other men who were sent to bring back Nora were just low rank soldiers of the cult, they would at least act as canon fodder if something unexpected was to happen.

“Hey, Zaron. I can sense the other group of soldiers we were suppose to take with us.”

“Good. You go bring them Yurs, Ao and I will continue onward.” The leader responded.

Moments later…

‘hmm?’ “Emi, let’s head outside, we have visitors.”

“Visitors.. The one’s we’ve been waiting for. Should Nora remain inside? Or should she come along?”

“She should remain inside, I don’t plan to drag this out… Nora you should come with us actually.”

Outside the cave were 7 demons, all male. Three of them were strong while the remaining four were average at best. The three strong demons were like direct disciples under the most powerful demons in the cult, getting direct guidance and tutelage from them, so they were very skilled and had a lot of experience in addition to their power, unlike the others.

They spent a few minutes trying to figure out where the people they were looking for were. According to the information their Mistress gave them, the ones they were supposed to capture were within the vicinity, but all that was visible were grasses trees and some hills and rocks. Not long after, one of them noticed something strange about the cave within one of the rocks, it wasn’t deep, and it looked as though it was cut out or carved by somebody and not naturally.

“Go tell the leader to come see this!” Ao said to one of the lesser soldiers.

After the leader saw the cave and inspected it for a bit, he made his way out of it, “this is.. unnatural.”

At that same moment, the soldiers witnessed three people walk out of the cave, immediately, one of the soldiers motioned with his head, “isn’t that the slave girl?” The others didn’t seem sure about this soldiers opinion though, because the slave girl they were looking for was a pale, scrawny looking girl with injuries and scars all over her body, but what they saw before them was totally different. Perhaps if they were to look closely, they’ll still see the scars, but apart from that every other thing is gone.

While the others were blown away by the sudden changes in the slave, thinking whether or not it was an illusion, the leader’s attention was drawn to something else.

“You, you two aren’t from around here are you?” As he asked the question, the others shifted their focus to the one he spoke of.

“Now that the leader mentioned it, they do look different. Are they from another nation?” one of the soldiers said.

“Sir. I think they are…”

“Yes Ao, they are unmistakably, Humans..”

..

“Hmp. Foolish slave, you dare betray your mistress, and side with the filthy, humans.” Whenever the word humans left his tongue, it was full of disgust and belittlement.

“Humans.. Today, you shall die a pig’s death. *spits* Disgusting.” The leader, Zaron said.

“The leaders must really hate humans. Even the way he says it.” “Yeah.. These guys are dead. Seems like we won’t have to do anything, he will probably kill them himself.” The other soldiers spoke amongst themselves in low voices.

“Hehh..” Julius gestured with a finger, and as he did, one of the weaker soldiers slide sideways away from the others, and as the others responded in an attempt to draw him back, they found themselves stuck, unable to move.

“What sorts of magic is this?”

“A binding spell, only weak humans would use such spells. It won’t last forever though, lets see what you do by that ti..”

“Now, Just as I said Nora, attack that soldier, let me see what you are made of.”

“Yes master.” Nora Immediately sprung forward, and although she acted confidently, Julius could sense the nervousness in her. ‘With master’s strength, he probably doesn’t need me, not to mention Emily. I don’t want to be cast away, I have to impress him in all I do and carry out all his orders without fail. Maybe then I can remain under him.’

“Didn’t that human just speak in our tongue just now? Who is he exactly?”

“I see you are not any ordinary, Human. To be able to speak demonic language, humans, should not be able to even comprehend its structure.” “Today, You shall surely die, disgusting, Human.”
