“What did you say?” I question, my voice cutting through the tension, finally breaking the suffocating tension.
“I guess the old woman was right… Again.” Elder Barrett exhales through his nose, then claps his hands, turning his head toward me. “With that being taken care of, let’s go.”
He shouts for a man named Jonah, and the room parts instantly. A man in the same crimson uniform as Elder Barrett steps forward, stopping at his side and leaning in slightly, as though awaiting a command. After a brief exchange, Jonah assumes command of the room while I trail a bewildered Elder Barrett out of the arena.
When we reach the entrance of the building, he shouts, “Yona!”
