~Storme~ I blinked against the soft evening light pouring into the room. I blinked against the warm light. My body ached all over. For a second, my heart raced, and my body tensed, expecting cold chains and the stench of mold. But no. I wasn’t on a cold, wet floor. I was on a bed. The sheets were warm, and this wasn’t a dream. I turned my head, slow and cautious, and my eyes fell on Theo, head down, body draped half off the bed, gripping my hand like it was the only thing keeping him alive, gripping my hand like a man afraid I'd vanish if he let go. That was when I remembered. Theo had taken me out of the dungeon, defying the orders of the alpha king. A tiny sound escaped me. Half sob, half sigh. Theo jerked upright so fast he nearly fell. His hazel eyes locked on mine, wide and wild.
