Marcus and Amira walked out of the judge's chambers, feeling a sense of relief wash over them.
"Well, that was a surprise," Amira said, smiling.
Marcus nodded. "I know, right? I was expecting the worst."
Amira's expression turned serious. "We're not out of the woods yet, Marcus. We still have to prove your innocence."
Marcus nodded, determination burning within him. "I know. And I'm ready to do whatever it takes."
Just then, a figure emerged from the hallway. He was a tall, imposing man with a rugged face and a sharp jawline.
"Amira, Marcus," he said, his voice deep and commanding. "My name is Detective Ryan. I've been assigned to your case."
Amira's eyes narrowed. "Assigned by whom?"
Detective Ryan smiled. "By the judge himself. He wants to ensure that this case is investigated thoroughly and fairly."
Marcus felt a surge of hope. Maybe, just maybe, this new detective could help him clear his name.
As they walked to the parking garage, Detective Ryan briefed them on his plan.
"I'll be reviewing the evidence and re-interviewing witnesses," he said. "I'll also be looking into possible suspects and motives."
Amira nodded, her eyes locked onto Detective Ryan's. "I want to be kept informed of every development."
Detective Ryan nodded. "You'll be the first to know."
Marcus felt a sense of relief wash over him. Maybe, just maybe, they were finally getting somewhere.
But as they reached the parking garage, Marcus noticed something strange. A black SUV was parked in the corner, its engine running.
And in the driver's seat, Marcus saw a familiar face. Detective James.
Marcus's heart skipped a beat. What was Detective James doing here?
And why was he watching them?
Detective Ryan's eyes followed Marcus's gaze. "What's wrong?" he asked.
Marcus hesitated before speaking. "That's Detective James," he said quietly. "He's the one who's been investigating my case."
Detective Ryan's expression turned serious. "What is he doing here?" he muttered.
Amira's eyes locked onto Detective James's. "I think we should go ask him," she said, her voice firm.
As they approached the SUV, Detective James's eyes met theirs. For a moment, they just stared at each other.
Then Detective James smiled, a cold, calculating smile. "Well, well, well," he said. "Look what we have here."
Marcus felt a shiver run down his spine. What was Detective James up to?
"I think it's time we had a little chat," Detective James said, his eyes glinting with malice.
Amira stepped forward, her eyes flashing with anger. "I don't think that's necessary," she said.
But Detective James just laughed. "Oh, I think it's very necessary," he said. "You see, I have some information that I think you'll find very interesting."
Marcus's heart skipped a beat. What did Detective James know?
And what did he plan to do with that information?
Detective James leaned back in his seat, a smug expression on his face. "You see, I've been investigating Marcus here, and I think I've found some evidence that will interest you."
Amira's eyes narrowed. "What kind of evidence?"
Detective James smiled again. "Oh, just a little something I found on Marcus's computer."
Marcus's heart sank. What could Detective James have found?
Amira's expression turned skeptical. "I'm sure it's just a misunderstanding," she said.
Detective James chuckled. "Oh, I don't think so," he said. "You see, Marcus here has been hiding a little secret."
Marcus felt a surge of fear. What was Detective James talking about?
And then, Detective James dropped a bombshell.
"Marcus is not who he says he is," Detective James said, his eyes glinting with triumph.
Amira's eyes widened in shock. "What are you talking about?" she asked.
Detective James leaned forward, a malicious grin spreading across his face.
"Marcus is actually an alias," he said. "His real name is something entirely different."
Marcus's world went dark. How did Detective James know?
And what did it mean for his future?
Amira's eyes locked onto Marcus's, shock and confusion written across her face. "Marcus, is this true?" she asked.
Marcus felt like he'd been punched in the gut. How did Detective James know his secret?
He hesitated, unsure of what to say. But before he could respond, Detective James continued.
"Marcus's real name is Alexander Gray," Detective James said, his voice dripping with malice. "And he's been hiding a dark past."
Amira's eyes widened in shock. "What are you talking about?" she demanded.
Detective James smiled. "Alexander Gray was involved in a string of burglaries several years ago. He's been using his alias to hide from the law."
Marcus felt his world crumbling around him. How did Detective James know all of this?
And what did it mean for his future?
Amira's expression turned stern. "Marcus, is this true?" she asked again.
Marcus took a deep breath before responding. "Yes," he said quietly. "It's true."
Amira's eyes narrowed. "Why didn't you tell me?" she asked.
Marcus shook his head. "I was afraid," he said. "I didn't want anyone to know."
Detective James sneered. "Well, now everyone knows," he said. "And you're going down for your crimes, Alexander Gray."
Marcus felt a surge of fear. What would happen to him now?
Would he be able to clear his name, or would he be sent to prison for a crime he didn't commit?
Amira's expression turned fierce. "This doesn't change anything," she said. "Marcus is still innocent until proven guilty."
Detective James snorted. "Save it for the judge, Amira," he said. "We have enough evidence to put Marcus away for a long time."
Marcus felt a chill run down his spine. What evidence could Detective James possibly have?
Amira's eyes locked onto Detective James's. "I want to see the evidence," she said.
Detective James smiled. "Oh, you'll see it," he said. "In court."
Amira's face turned red with anger. "This is a setup," she said. "You're framing Marcus."
Detective James shrugged. "You can't prove that," he said.
Marcus felt a surge of fear. Was Detective James right? Was he going to be framed for a crime he didn't commit?
Amira's expression turned determined. "We'll see about that," she said.
And with that, she turned and walked away, leaving Detective James and Marcus staring after her.
What was Amira planning? And could she really prove Marcus's innocence?
The outcome was far from certain, and Marcus's fate hung precariously in the balance.
