If you are wondering how this could have been, knowing all the good both Jonas and his father did for the system, just stop considering the fellas who wrote; ‘the law is a saw that cuts forward and backward’, or, the one that said, ‘law is a two edged sword’, as retards.
May be then, and most assured, only then, should you understand why the very same people they helped did nothing but crucify when trouble came knocking on their doors.
David got the message and lucky for Jonas, his father’s experience in the forces saved him. Even before he heard about his son having been framed, he envisaged it and was ready to take action, had they to set him up. He was sure that, they would use his son or his wife, just to try getting him out of hiding. With the little resources, he managed to get the information about his son’s transfer and broke him out in transit as well.
When this happened, they had nothing to prove that Jean had broken David out and no reason to hold her anymore. It was also a good move for her because she got the right moment to get the traitor. Without waste of time, she went to it. First, she had to be sure it was not John and therefore started with him.
She told John about having evidence that could prove the innocence of the Minister’s wife and expose the players in the dirty game of bereavement as well. This was no good news to John but conjured to care about it and happy for Jean. He requested her for the drive to listen to and possibly help her identify the people in it.
Jean went ahead to give it to him and then pretended to have something to work on, leaving the precinct. John was very happy with what she did and the trick he thought to have played on her.
He paced out and made sure that Jean was off the premises. He then made a call to the Mystery man to tell him the good news. This was a win for them even though Jonas had escaped and was missing too.
Immediately he dropped the call, what he saw next tottered him almost out of his skin. Jean drove back at speed. She got out of the car fast with a pair of handcuffs. She ran to tackle him for an arrest.
He looked from side to side at her as she turned him around to have the cuffs on, “Come on Jean, what is wrong with you? Why are you arresting me?” asked John.
She just kept at cuffing him as she responded in question, “I thought you are a good partner. How could you do this? How much did they pay you… huh?”
“Pay me to do what Jean? I do not understand. Whatever you think I did, you are wrong about it.”
“Are you sure about that? How much did you get to keep an eye on me and stab me on my back? I trusted you with my life as my partner.”
“Of course I have always watched your back Jean. How can I betray you?”
“Well, you shall tell the rest of the story inside… cuffed to a cold metallic chair.”
The captain and the rest of the officers had already come out to witness the incident. Later, John tried to talk himself out saying that it was all a lie and that, Jean had set him up but it could not hold. That is because when he did, the captain played him a recording of his call to the Mystery man. He was shocked to learn that Jean had given him a bugged flash drive without his realization. He was too busy thinking he had won that he assumed Jean’s intelligence.
“Wow… I must acknowledge your skills detective. I never saw this coming. You were trained well but… you just have one weakness.”
“Which is what detective?”
“You poke your nose everywhere and can’t let things be. You had to be put on check.”
“You know well that, I am a detective, paid to poke my nose everywhere I can to keep the city safe from criminals…criminals like you. Unlike you, I use my detective knowledge to make people feel safer, not threatened, which is your specialty as it seems.” She looked at him with much anger and pain, “What about the dreams you had? Were those lies too?” she continued.
“What do you think detective? The minute I heard you talk about those murders, I knew I had to do something to keep you off track. I made a call and was told what to do.”
“And how did that work out for you Detective? You are going straight to prison because that’s where you belong; with other criminals.”
“Be careful detective. You may have caught me but there are more out there. You cannot win this. Watch your back. You just painted a bull’s eye on it.”
“We shall see about that detective. You should be the one to be careful. Prison is no place for a detective. How long do you think you will survive in there? Think about that.”
The very mole that had been eating her precinct and dragging the case was out of the way. She was also able to identify the second voice on the drive as that of the Clairvoyant. John was questioned about all their dealings and the unlawful deaths that were happening in the city. He mentioned the two agents as the killers. He also mentioned them to have been behind David and Jonas’ accusations for murder.
Having confessed all that information, He was processed for prison. Later, David and Jonas were exonerated. Finally, they were free men once more. Jean mentioned their effort in identifying the mole. Consequently, her unstated actions to break David out were considered a means to the end.
With the agents caught as the killers and John as the infiltrator, the case was almost over. All that was left was the Mystery man and the Clairvoyant. Jean and her team now had the task of searching for the Mystery man as well as the Clairvoyant.
The following day, in the television was news that the man behind the killings and government conspiracies known as the Mystery man was dead. It was claimed that he was found dead at his house. He had committed suicide due to his mission’s failure as well as, his aficionados’ imprisonment.
