The wise said, better the devil you know than the angel you know not. I also tend to say that, sometimes, the angel you know might be the devil you know not about. Jean was sure that she had a partner who was always there for her.
Someone who could take one for her and she still did. John was the kind of person no one would ever suspect had anything to do with the killings or knew anything about them.
One could always think that he was as in the dark as Jean and the rest. Maybe, this was the reason they also said that, it is not a good thing to judge a book by the cover. It is always good to have a peek inside the covers before you can think of judging. Well, we cannot say the same for our friend Detective Jean though. Hers was an open book that had secrets beneath those innocent-looking pages.
Does this mean that, whenever we find an open book for us to read, we should always watch out for secrets within the pages? This I cannot tell but, what I can tell is, the apocalypse was coming and it was closing in faster than any one of them thought. John was just another fox in a very innocent sheep’s skin. Watching and waiting for the real sheep to shred to pieces.
All this we learned from the call that John received just before they left the crime scene. To whom could this voice belong? What could really make John want to be on the side of this Mystery man? This is yet to be answered as we unfold this story of the Armageddon. Speaking of which, our Mystery man had a task ahead of him. He had a message from John to the Clairvoyant. Another higher power John only heard of and we know not about except that, the Mystery man and John among others, answered to him.
The Mystery man pressed a button on his phone and it speed-dialed a number. On the other end of the line was the Clairvoyant. Even this Mystery man had not laid his eyes on this Clairvoyant. All he had was the phone that he could only use to contact him and not anyone else. Sooner than later, the so-called Clairvoyant picked the call and broke the silence first.
“Hello, Agent. To what do I owe this pleasure? Things must be going wrong out there, right?” the Clairvoyant said.
“I am sorry sir but our eyes and ears at the Kibich Central Police precinct say there will be if something is not done,” the Mystery man said.
“What is the meaning of this agent? What exactly does he want us to do?”
“I do not know sir, but, he says the detective and the gifted young man are about to solve the puzzles. If and when they do, we shall be at risk of being exposed.”
“Damn that boy! He is crossing the boundary now. Do not underestimate this young man and his father. They are to be watched closely as well as the female detective. She is as equally lethal with the two by her side.”
“Okay sir. We shall do our best to protect our cause and the good of all citizens.”
“Well then, it shall be taken care of but, ensure that no more mistakes or the next bodies the detective study will be those of yours and that other detective.”
The Clairvoyant hang up the phone. This Mystic was no boy scout. He seemed like someone with very much power and very deep knowledge of things. The Mystery man was very scared of the Clairvoyant.
The most important thing was that he had given the message to the Clairvoyant.
Even he did not know what it was that the Clairvoyant was going to do to get the detective and her team off their back. One thing he was sure of though was that, this meant the number of dead bodies were with a higher probability of increasing.
