CHAPTER XXI

719 Words
At the precinct, it was time for the team to gather all they had for use and reference. This included Jonas’ book of dreams back from the captain, any articles about Rebecca and the journals they had by her about the same. They were no longer in search of the killer but the theory behind the killings as well as, the reason for the inscriptions on the dead bodies. To add to what they had to use for the research on this lead they had, Ruddick, the forensic analyst gave Detective Jean another call. On having a look at her phone and saw it was Ruddick calling, she knew nothing comforting was about to come from his findings. He had finished research on the letterings found on the dead bodies. He finally had news that he needed to share with the detective. Ruddick’s research had just revealed; the tattoos on the bodies were imprinted using a tattoo ink and equipment that could not be found in any tattoo store throughout the world. What that meant was that, the writings were never written by the killer, unless, he was from another world. Ruddick was clear that, whatever ink used for those tattoos; he had never seen before. “Hello, detective. I am sorry to bother you but, I just found out something that can be of interest to you,” said Ruddick. “It’s okay Ruddick. What is it that you found? I need all the information I can get to find this killer or at least the man behind the tattoos.” Yes… about that, I am afraid but what I have will do you no good. It will make your work even harder detective.” “What is it, Ruddick? Don’t tell me the dead bodies are missing from the morgue.” “Actually, all the bodies are dead asleep and don’t seem to have any appointments. They will not be leaving anytime soon. What concerns me though is that, the tattoo ink is like nothing I have seen before. In fact, I even called a couple of friends I know who are quite knowledgeable on tattoos and they are saying the same thing.” “What are you trying to say, Ruddick?” “I am saying that the person or being that made those tattoos on those bodies is not from this earth. If you believe in the existence of aliens, detective, it is time to stick to it and find out more about your belief. This also means that the killer did not make the tattoos.” “So this means that we are dealing with a higher power for the tattoos but a human for the killer.” “I wish I could say otherwise detective but I am afraid that’s it.” “Thank you Ruddick. Please keep me updated on anything else you might find out. And if you must know, your information might help us more than you think Ruddick.” “Does this mean you found the killer or know the alien, because, personally, I doubted their existence?” “I wish I could tell you how but I cannot. All I know is that we have a lead, a solid lead. About the aliens, you better believe it, they do exist Ruddick.” Detective Jean hang up the phone and shared with her colleagues the information she had just gotten from Ruddick. Jonas’ theory was true after all. The news did not seem to please John though but he had to do what he knew how to do best. He had to pretend to be with them and liking their slow progress. “I just got a call from Ruddick and he confirms that the tattoos were nothing he had ever seen before. In fact, no tattoo expert that seem to recognize the dye used in them,” Jean told the rest of her team and Captain included. For a case that big, the Captain could not be left out. He had to be there and help to solve it as well as get updates first hand. With all these pieces of evidence they had at hand, they spent a very busy afternoon at the precinct trying to piece every bit of them together in the right order.
