When David and Jonas arrived home, Jessica had everything with her at hand. She was ready to hand over to them to help them with the case. They could also help Jonas so that he could understand himself better. If he was to be at his best, he needed to know himself better and, more so, about his newly acquired friend.
Rebecca had written quite a number of journals in her lifetime. She also happened to name them in a sequence that one would be able to follow even without her being present to guide. She knew that whatever she saw was greater than anyone was and could happen long after she was gone. Indeed, she was right. It did happen years after she was gone.
The mysterious thing though was that, all other books and pictures were there except for two. One of the journals was missing and one picture was missing as well. Thanks to her organizational skills, Jessica could be able to tell the two were missing. That yet brought another dilemma for them. As far as Jessica was concerned, no other soul apart from her and her grandmother ever stepped foot into that storage room. Again, even if they did go there, there was no way they could have cracked the puzzle at the door.
That was yet another mystery to solve. One thing she did realize was that, whatever was in those books was important. Important in relation to solving the murders and the puzzle of whom could be behind everything. Another theory that she thought of and had the need to prove was that, someone else apart from them knew about her great grandmother’s work and took a piece of it for themselves.
If that were to be true, then it would mean that none of them was safe. It also meant there was someone closely watching every move they made. After that discovery, they had to be very careful and tread carefully. At that point, Jessica had found herself and Kate a new hobby. They had found a way to become useful. They had to work to find out where the journal and this picture could have gone or at least what was on them.
“Hello, honey. How was your day?” David asked Jessica.
“Hello too my dear. My day was very fine and packed. I discovered so much today about my grandmother. How about you, how was your day with the detectives?”
“Well, it was as packed as yours was. There was another dead body and the tattoos as usual. Actually, our son Jonas did very well in helping the detectives in the case but things got even more complicated.”
“Why is this?”
“According to Jonas and the forensic analyst, the tattoos were not just any tattoos from any ordinary guy. In fact, the analyst said he had never seen the dye that had made those tattoos. Jonas also agreed with him and said the same thing. He doubted the killer tattooing the bodies divulging it would be a waste of time. Also, according to the nature of the tattoos, there was more to it than we all knew.”
“So…did you get any luck beyond this point?”
“We are working on that. We hope to know more about this case and the tattoos tomorrow. I just ask you to help us on your end as you search for this missing journal and picture. There is something bigger about this case than we see.”
“It’s okay my dear. I also do not have to remind you to take good care of our son. Maybe, he is to learn more about his potencies this way. This explains why you could not make much of a progress out there.”
“Okay my dear. I will take good care of him and you should be very careful too. Whoever took those books knows a lot and we cannot underestimate them until we know whom they are and why. Be on the lookout and never welcome anyone from the police force unless it’s the two detectives we are working with.”
“I here you David, we shall be careful. It is time for you to go and rest up. You have a busy day tomorrow. We all do.”
David and Jessica retired for the night but with so much in their mind. Each minute was presenting them with something new and stranger than the previous. That also meant that their lives were in more and more danger by the day. Whoever was behind this Armageddon surely knew what they were doing and it was catching up with the people faster than they could keep up.
The two men seated across the street from the murder scene had more up their sleeve. As it turned out, the demon they were working for was not appreciative of them taking time off. This monster also happened to be the very same that John and his friend the Mystery man were working for. After the Mystery man made the request put forward by John, these were the men to execute the plan.
Their high-security clearance and elite training had to mean something. They got a direct call from the Clairvoyant giving instructions to them on what to do. It was time to send Detective Jean and her team on a wild goose chase. They had to act as fast as they could that night else, the following day was just what Jean and her team needed to be steps closer to knowing the truth.
“Gentlemen, it has come to our attention that the detective and her team are about to ruin our plans.”
“From what we heard and saw from the crime scene, they are dangerously close sir.”
“Yes, which brings us to your new mission. Execute project fail-safe phase one before dawn tomorrow. Let us give the detective this that she so much seeks.”
“Clear sir, we shall see to it that it’s done.”
“Make sure to leave no clues leading back to you, and, remember to leave them the package as well.”
“Okay sir, consider it done sir,”
After terminating the call, it was time for the two men to go to work. It was not clear of what exactly this fail-safe was but rest assured; it was no good news at all. Someone was about to be promoted to Glory and escorted with a burden of affairs they knew nothing about.
