CHAPTER XXIX

822 Words
Back at David’s home, Jessica was still going through her grandmother’s work. She was trying to find any more clues that could lead them to solving the riddles. It was until then that his son and husband came back home safe. Kate was still with her, she would visit regularly, and trying to help her in every way possible. They still could not get why one of her grandmother’s journals was missing and what could have been in it. Above all, whomever else besides them that knew about the journal and, how they took it. At that time, she had started to get the picture that no other beasts but the ‘man-kind’ were threatening the world. As it seemed, the warnings were in relation to everything that was happening in the city. She realized that there was no other threat greater than what her husband and son were facing together with the detectives. She knew that all the powers her son had for seeing visions and the fact that the detective knocked on her door had everything to do with the Armageddon that was to happen. When David and Jonas got home that evening, she shared with them and warned to be very careful for more was coming. She also presaged them that, according to what she had found out from her grandmother’s journals, solving the riddles was no easy phenomenon. Her grandmother had written brusquely about a serpent that was in favor of the beast. This serpent would be very dangerous and would be the downfall of the savior. In this case, it was not clear, of whom the savior or the serpent was. Conversely, the savior could have been anyone amongst Jean and her team. So far, they were the people trying to save the world from itself. That got both David and Jonas confused in wonder of what the vision could have meant. Nonetheless, they still had the days ahead of them to figure it out. The following morning, Jonas woke up with news of his own. This time, he did not see a vision but was right into the vision. It is as if he had travelled ahead of time and lived the vision. After a while of a dry spell, the visions were finally back. This time, they were not just visions but also more of experiences he lived and not just seeing. Whatever his mother had just shared the previous night about her grandmother’s vision as well as his visions made them all frightened. Everyone had to move from being careful to being very careful and vigilant. The serpent was coming and it was coming for them. That part was crystal. The part that was not clear was that they did not know a thing more about the serpent and in what form it would come. In fact, when Jonas was in the vision, the serpent had already started eating them away. That meant that the serpent had already started its mission of destroying them. It was about time they figured it out or they could face the Armageddon before the rest of the world could. On arrival at the precinct, they had to share this with detective John and Jean so that they could think of a way and be more careful. The day’s mission became finding the mistress no more but trying to figure out who or what this serpent could be. For John, these were news that the Clairvoyant had to hear about. From the look of things, Jonas’ vision had done the work for them to lure their attention away. John excused himself and went out to make a call. Since he did not have a direct contact to the Clairvoyant, he had to call the Mystery man. The Mystery man acted astounded by the news and informed John to be careful and on the lookout for any anomalies. As much as thought to be fail-safe, it was the missing link for Jean to solve the case. As for the destruction to lure them off course, he mentioned that it was done and in play. As it seemed, even John was not aware of the destruction that the Mystery man talked about. All he had to do was to play his part in the team and run along whatever that came their way but working for a different course. As they were all trying to understand the vision and the serpent, there was a call about another murder. The call came in from one of the patrol squads that they had found another dead body. This time, they were all in fear that it would be the Minister’s mistress decaying body lying at the scene. They all drove off anxiously and as curious as cats. Several minutes later, they arrived at the scene. From that moment, the events unfolded at a speed that ridiculed their past understanding and course of investigations.
