CHAPTER XXXIV

Detective Jean went to the Credonia National Bank, Kibich Central branch, to find out what could have been in the deposit box. Once she was there, she requested access to the deposit boxes and went searching for the specific box. Finally, she found it and opened.

Inside this box was nothing much but just a voice recorder. She took out the recorder and played it. What she heard was the voice of two men talking about the Minister’s efforts to cripple their deals and that the Minister had to be taken care of.

Indeed, Cindy was right that the information was very valuable. It confirmed her statement of the Minister being nervous when he called her. Jean had gotten enough information to clear the Minister’s wife. It also entrenched that some populaces in the government were planning something life-sized.

She could not use the evidence to clear the Minister’s wife yet. She had to do something for Cindy though. She helped her get out of the country under the radar. She was left to work on making all the pieces she had found meet. This was her chance to try to find the mole in her precinct. Nonetheless, she first had to get the recording to David to affirm whether he would recognize the eccentric voices.

The Clairvoyant was not pleased by the disappearance of David. He had to work out a way to get him out of hiding. For this, he surely had the perfect plan. What could get a man out of hiding more than, framing his son for murder? Jonas was not lucky after all.

Hell was also about to break loose for Jean as well. As she got closer to the answer, the more twists there was. The Mystery man gave the agents a call to make sure they implicated Jonas so that David would show himself. Jean had gone to see David about the recording.

David listened and he did recognize one of the voices as the one speaking outside his holding cell. They were not familiar with the other one but they knew it could be the man calling the shots. With this data, it was time for her to get the infiltrator.

The following day, Jean had the perfect plan for the subversive and so did the Clairvoyant have for Jonas. She was woken by a call from John letting her know that Jonas had been arrested for murder. Things could not get any worse. She rushed to the precinct to find out more about it.

On arrival and inquiry, the story was similar to that of his father. There was enough evidence linking him to the homicide and placing him at the scene. Some pages of what was thought to be his great grandmother’s missing journal were found in the body. What better evidence than this. Although Jonas had the power to see the future, to any normal person, this would seem very odd.

That is what they took advantage of and accused him of being a maniac and a noxious killer. At that point, almost all the previous killings that had the tattoos were being linked to him. He was in more trouble than his father ever was. Jean knew that she had to do something or the young man could face death row or life imprisonment.

Unlucky for her, she could not break him out. Somehow, the Clairvoyant had the idea that she could have broken David out and he took precaution. He pulled strings to make sure she was held at the precinct.

Jonas’ only hope was for her to reach out to his father and tell him about it. She tried every bit she could and finally got a message to Jonas’ father. He was on the run but if Jonas had to survive, his father was all he got. Jean could not do a thing about it. This made her realize that her enemy was very close to her in deed. When she asked of why she had to be in the precinct, the captain was bold enough to tell the truth.

In the course of David’s arrest, she was missing at some point and, not even her partner knew of her whereabouts. That made the bureau suspicious of her involvement in his escape. For that reason, they had to keep her under watch not to try the same for Jonas as well.

They could not charge her with anything. What they had was just a hypothesis that had no solid prove. Keeping her under constant watch was all they could do.
