As Jonas and his father were busy learning more about the gifts they had, the police and other security departments had some drudgery as well. The rate of crimes in the city had gone up. Each day would have a new arising or a mysterious murder. The police found mysteriously murdered people and without cause.
Something was off about these crimes though. Most of the time they would find a dead body, it would have writings on it and most were completely drained off of blood. It looked as if whomever that was killing these people had a craving for blood. Looking at the bodies, one would think that a wild animal attacked them.
As these crimes grew, the people’s panic also intensified. The rumors about the day of reckoning became more real by the day. These killings led the people to believe that there was a demon walking the earth amongst them.
There were theories that hell had broken loose and that Satan and his Agents were roaming the earth to destroy it and the people in it.
“I saw this coming. These are no animals. The demon is on the loose. You are guessing right. I saw this coming. If I had told you people, you could think of me as crazy. Do you think the Armageddon is a rumor? It is not a rumor. The world is coming to its final days. If something is not done about it, we shall all die,” Detective John warned.
Detective John narrated this to the others in the precinct. The others in the precinct looked at him as if he was the ghost they were trying to find. Indeed, the Bible did talk about the Judgment Day and how people would cessation themselves. The time had just come and something had to be done fast.
“What are you saying, John? Can you hear yourself? This is not true. How could the world be coming to an end and how can you know this?” asked Detective Jean.
Detective John walked towards his desk at the precinct, “I had a dream about this day. At first, I thought they were just nightmares.”
Detective Jean followed behind him in question, “Then what happened?”
“I came across this,” he reached in one of the drawers at his desk and got out a newspaper handing it over to Jean.
Journalists in the years Jonas’ great grandmother was alive wrote it. It talks about a woman who saw the end of the earth. This woman was no other but Jonas’ great grandmother, Rebecca Maya. As it appeared, her gift caught the attention of a journalist and the journalist did what they do best.
He wrote about her super-human abilities. Jean read the newspaper as John talked more about it to her. However, it was hard for her to believe but had no choice. It was all staring back at her eyes. That was the only way at the time one would have an explanation for the dead bodies around the city. The ‘man eat man’ error Rebecca saw had just come.
John continued as he sat on his chair, “It was at that moment that I thought I was not alone after all. Believe you me; I used to think they were just nightmares.”
”So, about these dreams of yours, what exactly did you see? Can these dreams help us to know the killer?”
“You were not listening to me. I said the killer was no ordinary killer. Whoever is doing this is not from this earth. There is no point to think that we can capture this villain. In fact, he is just starting. It’s going to get worse and worse as the days to the end approach.”
“Tell me more about it and how it all connects to this woman who is… not only dead but, cannot help us to slay this leviathan you talk about. If she had some kind of ability, it had to have something about how to stop this behemoth… right?” she asked in curiosity.
“I wish this was true. Do not even dare to think I am to help you simply because I had these dreams about the demon. I have no death wish. I do not even understand why I had the dreams myself. I also wish I had someone to explain it all to me.”
She sat by his side at his desk, “Tell me about this dream you had about this monstrosity.”
He looked around like a thief in fear of being caught, “This is not something I want to talk about but, I have no choice. I hope the demon doesn’t know that I am telling his story and decide to finish me sooner.”
She tapped him on his shoulder, “Come on, you do not need to worry about that. There is no way the demon can know.”
She pointed at his pistol, “After all, you still have this. Again, you are just sharing your dream. Who could not share such a dream?”
John begun narrating the dream,
“I saw a beast coming out of the sea. It looked like nothing I have seen before. It had ten horns and seven heads; on each of its horns, there was a crown and on each of its heads there was a name that was insulting to God. The beast looked like a leopard, with feet like a bear’s feet and a mouth like a lion’s mouth. The dragon gave the beast his own power, his throne, and his vast authority. One of the heads of the beast seemed to have been fatally wounded, but the wound had healed. The whole earth was amazed and followed the beast. Everyone worshiped the dragon because he had given his authority to the beast. They worshiped the beast also, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who can fight against it?””
He continued, “I was so afraid and I woke up. It was the strangest of dreams I have ever had.”
Jean looked flabbergasted, “Did you just recite a Bible verse in the name of a dream? That is in Revelation 13. I am afraid there is more to it than I thought. The world might be at stake after all. If your dream is to happen, we have very little time before people start to worship this demon and, when they do, we are tossed. Nothing we can do then. We need to act now and fast or the world will be at the end. I am a Christian and I just never thought I would see the end and I do not intend to see it. I wish to die old and not in the hands of a beast.”
“What do you have in mind Jean? Feel free to share because I cannot think of something or someone who can stop this so-called the beast. How do you even start to kill something with seven heads?”
“I think we should start right here,” she suggested pointing at the article about Jonas’ great grandmother.
John looked at her like a specter, “How will a newspaper article from years ago help us to kill a demon with seven heads! Honestly, I think we are going about this the wrong way. We cannot capture this brute let alone killing it.”
She stood up, “Yes, we can and we will John. It made a mistake and came to my city first. The only way the world is to end is if he moved on to another city. As long as he is in my city, he has to die or go back to hell.”
“If I did not know you, Jean, I would say that you really need to see a therapist. So how do you plan on using a newspaper article to kill a beast with seven heads and or take it back to hell?”
As she made short steps around John’s desk, “From the look of things, this woman had more than just visions about the end time. There must be a reason why she saw this all those many years ago. I think we need to start by getting in touch with her family. We need to trace whoever that is related to her and lives in this city. If she had a gift to see the future, I bet someone in that family must know something about how this beast will be killed.”
John turned to his computer and started punching keys, “Lucky for you… I did my homework. You don’t think I could read something like this and not be interested in knowing more about it, do you?”
She moved to his side leaning forward to look closer, “So, what do you have? What did you find out about her family?”
As he turned the computer screen towards her, “Unfortunately, all her children died a couple of years ago. Her grandchildren though… it is a different s********e of them are very much alive but all of them live elsewhere. No one we know from the family that lives in Kibich City,”
She lifted one of her hands off the desk to scroll down, “What does that mean? There must be another way we can reach someone that knows something. How about her house? Does anyone live there?”
He turned the monitor towards him and started typing, “Of course someone does. About ten years ago, a woman from Malaba City bought the house. Her name is Jessica. She is married to an ex-military and happens to have a son.”
She said as she walked towards her desk to get her stuff, “Very good John; I think that is where we are going to start. Get your gear ready. We are going to fight this demon by all means possible.”
Leaning to the side to see her clearly, “I don’t think this woman will be of so much help to us. She has no ties whatsoever to this Rebecca Maya except buying her haunted house that no one else wanted,”
She turned to look at him as she picked her badge and firearm, “Actually, she doesn’t have to. All we need is to get her consent to look around the compound. Who knows… we might find something,”
John walked towards her, “I have no problem. Do you not think we need to let the captain know about this first? I mean… we need his go ahead first.”
She looked at him and pointed the captain’s office with her head in response, “Yes we do and that’s why we are going in there and you will tell him exactly what you told me.”
Shaking his right hand forefinger sideways, “I think that is a bad idea. How do you think the captain will think of us telling such stories?”
She walked past him, “Well, he has no choice but to believe it. He has no other way to explain the killings in the city. Nothing he wants most than to see this murderer caught and brought to justice. Otherwise, he will have too much pressure on him than he can handle. Getting questions he has no answers for from his superiors is the last thing he needs.”
He followed her behind, “And how do you suggest we get justice? We are talking about a beast here Jean, not a human being; seven heads for crying out-loud. Does that mean anything to you?”
Pointing her finger towards the captain’s office, “Let’s cross that bridge when we get there. Right now, you need to make the captain believe in that dream.”
