On arrival at home, Jessica and Kate sensed something was wrong from a mile away after seeing the car pull up outside that fast and that early. Finally, when everyone got out and there was no David, Jessica knew that hell was about to break lose and the world was crashing on them.
She knew all was about to smash them hard. Jonas’ vision and his great grandmother’s vision about the serpent had started to happen. It was not time to find the serpent or bother to know who or what it might have been but to get David off the hook.
To their surprise, when they searched for his weapons, they were no longer there. In fact, all his weapons were missing. All they found was a bunch of fake guns and pistols in his firearm cabinet. Things got from bad to worse, strange to a mystery that they needed to solve as fast as they could or David could be the next missing person.
Jean was sure that whoever was pulling the strings was someone very powerful. She also knew that whoever had David arrested had no intentions to keep him for questioning. She had an imagination that, David might not see an interrogation room but would otherwise be taken to some other Black site.
She could not do anything about it then because, no one else knew of her working with David or Jonas in the first place apart from her precinct. She could not claim that David was her informant. Another factor was that David was dishonorably discharged from the forces. That alone was enough reason for him to be the suspected killer.
They had played all their best cards but they were losing the game. Time was something she knew they did not have enough of. One thing she was sure of was that they were not going to take David to a holding cell in any of the precincts. That day, it seemed all her cards just brought about bad luck. David was booked and his case was set for hearing the following morning.
Early the following day, he was arraigned in court. Jean had nothing at hand that they could use in his defense. She could not even speak in the court about working with him as her informant. His dishonorable discharge made that possible.
Above that, his partner and spotter Peter Anderson back in the forces was the main witness that testified against David. In his testimony, he quoted that David was angry after his discharge and had a thought of taking revenge against the government. He also mentioned that David termed the discharge as unfair for, he was a good soldier and had done nothing wrong to deserve the punishment.
The odds of him being guilty were very high. As a result, he was found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment without parole. All that was left was for David to be taken to a maximum-security facility and serve his sentence. At last, there was someone to blame and link to the murders.
That was a relief to her that she did not have to find David but also, bad news for the fact that he was being taken to prison. From what they had seen so far, she knew that whoever was pulling the strings wanted David in prison. That was no good news. One of the best ways to kill a man and get away with murder was and is to have the person within the four walls of a prison.
She had a feeling that it might be what could be waiting for David within those prison walls. She could not let that happen. It had also come time to think out of the box and think about the serpent that Jonas had talked about and how it related to the whole enchilada. In the end, she had to do her thing alone and not trust anyone. She played to have failed to get David off the hook and pretended to be contented with it.
That would give her breathing room and at least, keep her and the rest of her team safe until she could think of another way or, find the serpent before the damage was too much to contain. She called off every effort to exonerate David and told her crew to adjust and move on.
She claimed of nothing to be done at that moment that could set David free. Meanwhile, she had a plan of her own. If you cannot beat them in their game, it is always right to just play along but in own rules.
That’s what Jean decided to do. She also knew that, a burning garment was and is only lethal to the skin when it is worn or in contact with the skin. How else could the fire have burnt them that fast and effectively if they had not worn the garment?
