CHAPTER XIV

1246 Words
The detective gave Jonas’ father the book pointing at initials that they found tattooed on a dead body a few days earlier. RVN.17.1.2.3. were initials they found tattooed on the dead person’s body. They could not understand what it meant. They had almost given up on searching but then, Jonas gave them the clue to what the code was. The fact outraged everyone in the room. They were eager to hear more of what Jonas had to say now that; his pictures were associated with multiple homicides. This was surely something no one thought would happen. Neither his mother nor his girlfriend would comprehend what they were hearing from Jonas and the detectives. It was time Jonas gave a good explanation of the numbers in his book or, he was in deep trouble. “Everyone relax. Those numbers are not anything bad. Why would they be in my vision if they had something to do with murders and killings? It is just a verse from the Bible. It means Revelation 17: 1-3,” Jonas explained. “Jonas, are you telling us that this is a Bible verse tattooed on a dead man’s body? I thought the Bible was supposed to protect people and not to have them killed?” asked detective John. “Honestly, I did not see the true picture of this but now that you say it was on a dead man’s body; it does make sense. I almost thought these dreams were nothing but just dreams. I now see they are exactly what I thought them to be; visions.” “So Jonas, How does this help us now? How does a Bible verse on a dead man’s body make sense at all? Please enlighten us. Seems we were not lost coming here after all,” detective Jean asked and said. “I thought I am supposed to translate these visions for you as you connect the dots yourselves. You are the detectives. And in case you have the impression; I might be the killer, think again because someone might be planning another murder as we speak.” Jonas spoke. “Take it easy son. Just answer their questions. No one is thinking of you as the killer. The killer is out there. All they need is you to help them make sense of everything,” said David. “Please Jonas; tell the detectives what they need to know. I can’t have them tag you as a killer and take you to prison,” expressed Kate painfully. “Okay Jonas. We get your point but the best criminals have agents too,” imparted detective Jean. “Detective, you may have met my son today and think he is a criminal by just seeing these pictures but, I have raised him as his father for over 20 years. I know my son; he is no killer. He might offer the assistance you need and seek but you have to refrain from perceiving him as a criminal or a killer. I am a soldier and if he were into killing people, I would have known a long time ago. I know a killer when I see one,” Jonas’ father avowed. “Okay soldier. I get your point but what you do not know is how it feels to find a dead body after another each day without a lead let alone the power to put it to an end. What would you do if it were you? Just tell me soldier, what would you have done? What would you be willing to do to stop a terrorist?” David hesitated to answer the question implying he would go to any lengths. “That’s what I thought soldier. Believe me, I am doing this to save this city and to protect the people,” Jean acknowledged. “It has not come to that detective. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves here,” David suggested. “Let’s hope not soldier…let’s hope not. Jonas, I am afraid you have to come with us to the precinct for further investigation,” John added. “Please David, stop them. Tell them our son is not the killer, please. He does not know how to deal with the boys that bully him in school let alone kill people,” expressed Jessica in tears. “You cannot take him away. He has done nothing. They are just pictures and you cannot prove a thing. Let him be,” proposed Kate as she held his hand. “Of course we do not have the proof… yet. It is just a matter of time and we have the proof. Please if you may Jonas, we should get going. As you said, someone out there might be planning another murder. We have no time to waste.” “David… please do something. You cannot let them take our only child,” Jessica told David. “You know the law David. You know how this works. What are you going to do… huh… stop me from taking him with me? After all, if he is innocent as you say, he will be back within 72 hours.” “Of course I cannot do that. You have to perform your duty but what I can, and, will do is come with you. Not as a father but maybe, I can help you track this killer down. I may be out of the forces but still have my skills. I also happen to know my son better. Be certain he will be of more use to you with me around. You do not want him just for keeps at your precinct in the event he repudiates to assist you. After all, from what I have heard, there is more to it than just a killer. This is erudite than it seems detective. You need all the help you can get and you know it. Please let me help you for the sake of this city, the people and my son. I have missed enough in his life already.” “Okay soldier. I will disregard protocol and let you help us on this one. You should also know; I am well aware of your history in the army and the decorations. What I do not understand is where you took a wrong turn to piss off your bosses enough to kick you out. I hope to find out as we try solving this case. Just pray and hope I do not end up digging some dirt on you. You will surely hurt my feelings.” Jean hypothesized. “Okay detective, that works for me. It’s not like I have anything to hide.” “Well… time will tell… that I am sure. We should get going.” Jean Supposed. David turned back to his wife and Kate. “Honey, just be safe. All is well. Jonas is not in any trouble. It is just what needs done in such situations. And Kate… worry not, I will bring back your boyfriend safe and sound,” said David as they left for the precinct. Jonas and his father accompanied the detectives to the precinct. Jessica and Kate prayed that their loved ones return to them in one piece. They knew Jonas and his father would help save the world but never thought of it that way. Everything left for them was hope to see their much-loved again in one piece.
