"VAMPIRES?!"
Ayyanha's eyes get big while her mouth gape in shock- not really. Calix look serious while looking at her. She sink her upper teeth into her lower lip.
A moment of silence between them. And it was hard for her as she try to look serious like Cal. But she couldn't take it anymore and she burst out.
"Hahahahaha" She laughed so f-cking out loud as she held her stomach. "Y-you-hahaha-got me, Cal. That was a- hahaha nice joke."
Calix frowned. Did she think i'm joking? I'm so f-ckin serious here. "I'm serious, Ayyanha. Its not a joke."
Ayyanha's laugh died down. She wipe the tears of joy on her eyes. "Come on, Cal, vampires isn't true." She said. "Its just a myth that was spread through words. It was made up by mind, Cal."
Calix give a sigh. "What you saw last night is a rogue- untamed vampire. They sucked human blood. They are responsible for those dead bodies in your town."
She swallowed hard. Is he freaking serious? Should i believe him? Cal seemed serious. Though, in order to believe him, i need proof, evidences or etch. What i saw last night isn't enough. May be it was a hallucination cause by my fear.
"I don't believe you, Cal." She said. "According to the news wild animals are the responsible for those killings."
Calix took a deep breath. This woman won't believe him. But may be he could try something believable then. "Should i show you my fangs?"
Ayyanha's brows met. Her forehead frowned even more. "What fangs?"
"This"
Calix stood up and seated on Ayyanha's bed that make the latter curious. He opened his mouth in front of her showing his sharp fangs. He stilled where he sat watching her reaction.
Ayyanha stared at Calix white teeth. Unconsciously she lift her hand up to touch those two sharp teeth. She wanted to be sure. Yes, this fangs are same to those fangs she saw last night. But what if its fake? May be Calix is pranking her?
She gape as she feel it. She feel how hard it is- hard as rock. She feel how sharp it is- so sharp that they can really dig your flesh.
So it was true.
Calix distance himself before closing his mouth. "Still not believing it?"
She stayed silent. No words came out from her mouth. May be because she couldn't find a word to say.
A flashback of her and her grandma flash in her mind. The scene where her grandma tell her about vampires.
In a cold night. She was lying on her bed while her grandma was beside her.
"Wanma, wat stowe awe you gonna tell me tonight?"
"Its about Vampires, My Ayyanha."
She frowned, "Vwampise?" She asked curiously. She hadn't heard that word. "Wat Vwampise, Wanma?"
"Vampires are the living dead."
"Living dewd? Wat living dewd?"
"It means they are already dead, Ayyanha. But they are still living. They have brains, but their heart ain't beating."
She pouted. "I don't undewstand, wanma."
Her grandma patted her head. "You're too young for that to understand, Ayyanha."
"Okay, Wanma. You still continue youwe stowe, wight?"
"Of course, baby." Grandma said. "Vampires has two sharp teeth called fangs and they use it to suck blood."
"Why they suck blood, Wanma?"
"To stay alive. Blood are their food. We need food to survive and Vampires too."
"Okay, Blood are Vwampise food. Noted, Wanma."
Her grandma chuckled. "Vampires eyes can see in a wide range unlike human. Their eyes were like a telescope. Their sense of smell is so strong that they can smell your blood inside your body."
"Wat else, Wanma."
"Vampires are too strong. Their body are cold, because they are already dead. They are immortals and have super powers, but afraid of the sun."
"Why awe they afwaid of the sun? Awe they good, Wanma?"
"Sun can burn them. And they can be good or bad. You must not trust easily, Ayyanha. You didn't know that you're already talking to a vampire."
Vampires. I thought they were myth. They aren't true. But now?
All along was just my thought.
"Ayyanha?"
She was snapped out from her reverie when she heard Calix voice.
"W-what?" She stuttered.
"I've been calling you for five times and you're just staring at me."
Ow, she forgot Calix as she reminisce the past.
She shrug her shoulders. "Sorry, a memory flash in me."
"So, ahm, you believe me now?"
She nodded and look away. For her there is something on Calix eyes.
"And you're now scared?"
"A little."
Just a little. She know Cal is good.
Calix hold her hand. She feel Cal cares it a little. Like he is telling her that there's nothing to be afraid of. That she's safe.
"I assure you, you're safe here, Ayyanha, especially that your life is in danger."
"In danger? How?" She asked eagerly.
"I think the person who follows you has a plan at you. Its either he'll kill you, held you, or whatever that could put your life in danger."
May be Cal is right. She's in danger now. Especially what happened last night. What if there's no Cal who came to save her? May be she's now a corpse. Lying on the ground cold and dead.
But what about that man, Cannon, did to her made her doubt again.
"How can you assure my safety here? One of you successfully pierce his fangs on me."
"I'm sorry for what Cannon did. He mistook you as our sister. I'm really sorry, Ayyanha."
Sister? Her? How could he mistook me as their sister. As if we have the same face. And if its their sister why Cannon can do that thing? He didn't even think before biting her. So, how could he do that on his 'sister'?
"I know what you're thinking." Cal said. "Its was a curse, Ayyanha."
Curse? What is he talking about? What curse?
"What do you mean?"
Calix took a deep sighed. "Our dad brought a half vampire in our home named Cassiopia, our sister, but no really. To make the story short, Cannon and Cassiopia became lovers. But mom became a hindrance. She doesn't want a half vampire in the family. And the thought that she can't separate the two however she do. So, She curse Cannon and Cassiopia. A curse that Cannon is the one that will kill Cassiopia."
She blink twice. She thought this kind of story doesn't happen in real life. "A-and?"
"And the curse happened. Cannon did kill Cassiopia."
Wow. It was shocking. So shocking that she can't believe it. She doesn't know what to feel. There's something inside her that tug her heart.
"Ahm, could you leave me alone? I need to rest."
Pete give her a small smile before going out. Silent covered her room. Too silent that she could hear her own breath.
"Mi reina"
She instantly turn her head on that voice. And she actually swallowed her saliva while her eyes get big when she know who was it.
Suddenly, her heart pounded.
"It was you."
The owner of the voice she heard last night. The person that followed her for a week.
