CHAPTER NINETEEN
“All right, I’m up,” Thomas mumbled in response to some annoying twit shaking his shoulder. Opening his eyes, he saw he was surrounded by four armed deputies, all of whom looked beyond irritated and bordering on outraged.
“Outside, now,” the deputy who woke him said. Glancing about with the aid of the sunlight filtering through the windows, Thomas saw his companions were being roused as well. They were all escorted outside where upon they met a grave-looking Sherriff Wilts, astride a white stallion that was straining for every breath. The sheriff dismounted when Thomas and the others arrived. He smiled briefly before his sour expression returned. As for the others, Siegfried, Haley, and Jeffrey all looked to be balance-challenged and battling what he assumed were migrain
