CHAPTER ELEVEN He felt utterly useless at the start of it all. He couldn’t save his parents or the other villagers who succumbed to the plague, nor did he have any real sense of a direction other than eastward. Add in the fact he was now travelling southeastward, Thomas sorta kinda felt like he was failing. That said, he was a skilled blacksmith, which meant he could probably find work in any village, city or town. His new companions, meanwhile, were like fish out of water. They came from rich families, but were themselves seemingly cast out without any substantial funds.
