Chapter 2 Harassed by the Old Perv!

809 Words
Ruben: Vinnie, just play along, and you can keep what you have now. Leave me, leave the Catmore family, and you're nothing! Bullshit! Vinnie: Screw you! Scum! She furiously typed back, ready to block Ruben. But her focus was solely on her phone. She didn't see the slip coming and suddenly, she was sprawling forward. "Ah!" Vinnie screamed. The next second, she found herself in a man's muscular arms. It was the man sitting by the table next to hers! Dang it! What was going on? Goodness, how embarrassing! She struggled to stand but accidentally touched the firm muscles under his thin shirt, which was so warm and filled with strength. Vinnie froze for a moment, wishing it had been an elderly gentleman instead so that she could offer some compensation for distress or medical costs before leaving as quickly as possible. The fact that it was a strapping young man made it all the more embarrassing. Vinnie wished she could dig a hole and hide herself inside it. "It's quite nice to have a beautiful woman fall into my arms, but I suspect this isn't the best place to start a romance, is it?" The man's voice slipped into Vinnie's ear, and she could even feel the vibration of his chest. Damn it! He was restraining his laughter! Apparently, he had seen everything and was amused by her plight! Vinnie looked up in anger, ready to snap back and salvage some of her dignity, but she stopped short when she saw his face. It was Borys Conroy, a billionaire tycoon often seen in the media. He was like a deity in the world of wealth. Vinnie's planned retort died on her lips as she scrambled to regain her composure, biting her lip as she spoke, "Mr. Conroy, eavesdropping is not a gentleman's act." "Well, I wasn't eavesdropping. That lady was a bit too loud," Borys replied, watching her biting her lip and chuckling gently, "Also, perhaps you might want to get up from my lap first?" Vinnie didn't want to linger any longer, but her broken heel betrayed her once more. This time, she landed directly on the coffee table, which was knocked aside, scattering coffee everywhere. "Careful." As she regained her senses, Vinnie found herself once again in Borys' arms. "Geez... Again?" Within his embrace, Vinnie covered her face in embarrassment, wondering why such things kept happening to her. She pulled out some cash from her bag and stuffed it into Borys' hand. "I'm sorry, but now we're even. You overheard my conversation, and I got your shirt dirty. Fair, isn't it?" Pretending to be composed, Vinnie bent down to remove her high heels and picked them up. "All right then, have a nice day," she said, pretending she was just carrying a bag of documents or croissants as she walked barefoot out of the café as elegantly as possible. Borys looked at the cash and then at Vinnie, unable to contain his laughter any longer. What a rare experience! This was the first time a woman gave him money. "Look into the Catmore family's daughter, Vinnie," Borys pulled out his phone, instructing his secretary. "I need to learn more about this interesting lady." Vinnie hopped into a cab. She had just received a text from her secretary informing her that Andy Cook, a key prospective client, would be attending a banquet tonight at a club named MagValley. She needed to secure the business order there. At night, Vinnie was dining with Andy. She quietly swatted away his hand as he intended to grope her butt. That old perv! He actually wanted to harass her! However, Andy grabbed her arm firmly, pulling her closer. The corpulent man caressed Vinnie's hand and said, "Sweetheart, aren't you after my business? Finish this drink, and I might consider it." Vinnie was already tipsy, yet she struggled to accept the glass. "Mr. Cook, a deal's a deal. I'm counting on that order from you." Vinnie was determined to secure the order at this crucial dinner party before Ruben could. "Look at those rosy cheeks. So alluring." Andy leered at her, his breath laden with alcohol brushing against her delicate neck. "I have a VIP room upstairs. You're welcome to use it to rest anytime. What do you think?" Damn it, keep it together, Vinnie! He's a major client, and I can't just dunk his head in a toilet! "Excuse me, I need to use the restroom," Vinnie said, taking a step back before turning to escape. She pulled out a menthol inhaler to clear her head, swallowed some hangover pills, and prayed for them to work quickly. On her way back, she inadvertently took a wrong turn and stumbled upon Andy and Ruben conversing on the terrace. A bad feeling washed over Vinnie. Using the curtains as cover, she stealthily approached.
