DANIEL POV
I ended the call and looked over at Emma, still curled under the blankets, her breathing slow and steady. She was in the early stages of pregnancy, and her body was already working hard, making her more tired than usual. But now was not the time to let her rest.
I approached the bed and gently placed a hand on her shoulder. “Emma,” I said, my voice soft but firm. “Wake up, how are you feeling? I am sorry i disrupt your sleep.”
She stirred, blinking sleepily at me. “What’s wrong? Why did you wake me up all of a sudden? Is there a problem?” she murmured, her words slurred with sleep.
I hesitated, hating the thought of breaking this news to her, but there was no way around it. “Ava just called. Your mom... she’s in the hospital. It’s critical.”
