“Someone followed you from the hotel.”
Daniel’s voice came from behind me as I stood before the mirror, adjusting the sleeve of my dress.
I met his eyes through the reflection. “Only one?”
His expression hardened slightly. “You noticed.”
“I expected it,” I replied calmly, turning to face him. “Julian doesn’t trust what he doesn’t understand. And right now, I’m exactly that.”
Daniel stepped closer, lowering his voice. “That doesn’t make it safe.”
“I’m not trying to be safe.”
“You should be,” he said, more firmly this time. “You’re stepping back into his world.”
I held his gaze for a moment before shaking my head slightly. “No. I’m pulling him into mine.”
