The first thing Jenna did when she woke was rush to the bridge and check that the strange object hadn’t followed the Defender. It hadn’t.
Then she ran through a series of checks to make sure the Defender wasn’t showing any signs of the same strange substance appearing on it. There was none. Not that she could imagine any way it could have taken hold, but in her dreams she’d been battling exactly that horror.
Only then did she relax a little and allow herself to go wash up, dress, and eat. While she did she thought about little other than the strange discovery, and what she was going to do about it.
