“Ivy.” He smiled at her after his initial shock of being yelled at in the middle of a crowded restaurant subsided. “Hey,” she said after a moment. “Hey,” he said back with a sly smile. He knew she had embarrassed herself. She hated how he could read her so well. And, if she were being honest, she kind of liked it, too. “Um, what are you guys up to?” she asked. “I mean, besides eating. You’re obviously at a restaurant, so you must be doing that, right? Eating.” She was babbling like an incoherent toddler. She averted her eyes and took a big gulp of her martini. Crawling under the table to die of humiliation was what she really wanted to do. “Ha, yeah,” he laughed as everyone continued to stare at them. “We’re going to watch the new horror movie afterwards.” “Oh, cool, us too,”
