She didn’t give in to her indulgence, as much as she wanted to. She quickly climbed into one of the comfy chairs with Harper. He curled up next to her, waiting for Percy to continue his tale of terror. “You can’t stay there forever,” Roman threatened playfully. She stuck her tongue out at him just as Harper said, “Ro, you’re ruining the story!” “Yeah, Ro, shh!” Ivy laughed. Roman stared her down, his green eyes intense. She felt her face flush and as much as she wanted to blame the wine, she knew that would be a lie. Ivy watched him out of the corner of her eye as he took a seat next to them. Apollo came bounding up, and Roman welcomed the big dog onto his lap. Roman’s arm muscles flexed through his long-sleeved black shirt as he stroked the dog’s head, listening to Percy’s story.
