The next morning Ivy felt heavy with sleep. All the traveling, and her tussle with Roman last night, had caught up to her. She wished she had asked off an additional day. Getting back to work wasn’t something she could put off, though. Now that they had funding for the library expansion, there were mountains of work to attend to.
Roman had left earlier that morning. He’d kissed her goodbye, telling her he had to get Harper to school and go to work. She smiled, thinking about having him next to her all night. It felt good. It felt right. Knowing she couldn’t wait any longer, Ivy got out of bed and took a quick shower.
