Ryan drove quickly, but I noticed he didn't drive past the Pause building. He must've been afraid I would jump out of the car and climb the building to the top like King Kong. Clutching my necklace for dear life, I was lost in thought as I stared out the window. There had to be a way to rescue Vivian without getting caught or killed myself. At the very back of my mind, behind all the panic, I wondered why Ryan was helping me when he'd been so quick to hate me. His car smelled just like him - comfortable and enticing, calm and masculine.
