"Here," she said, "half of this closet will be yours. And then there's the hall closet. And there's this chest and, lots of places where you can put things. This'll be a ball, Connie!" The two girls chattered and planned. Then Connie began to unload some of the contents of her large leather handbag, which seemed to double partly as a briefcase. She set some of the items on the bedroom dresser. June watched her. "What's that?" June said it suddenly, fingering the item which had appeared on the top of the dresser. It was tall, it had a rounded top ... but it was blue in color. It looked like a ... "It's a pencil case," her friend replied, "you know, for pencils and pens. There's even a pencil-sharpener in the top. See?" Connie unscrewed the top, then screwed it back on again.
