18. Party Time

Carrie-Ann sat in the corner of the couch. This party sucked. Most parties Drew took her to sucked. He was some gregarious extrovert who knew everyone. And he worked with a younger group of people, so the parties were not with people her age with similar interests. She didn’t have to like or get along with a person to find common ground in talking about the latest block-buster movies or hot new TV shows. Instead, she was quiet, never quite charming enough to get people to talk to her. “You okay?” She looked up to see a wild-looking younger man standing above her. “Yeah, I’m good.” She shifted her attention back to the crowd of the party, looking to see who Drew was talking to this time.
