Rafael's reaction to the Pereira letter was the most animated she'd seen him.
He came to the flat the following morning and she sat at the table while he and Leonardo stood near the window and Rafael said words like extraordinary and unprecedented and evidentiary gold in a tone that was attempting to be professional and wasn't quite making it.
She let him have five minutes of this.
"What does it actually do?" she asked.
Rafael looked at her. He put the lawyer back on.
"Several things," he said, sitting down. "First, it confirms the fraud at a level of detail that was previously undocumented. We had the forged consent, the medical record discrepancies, Pereira's professional record — but this provides the narrative. The how and why. That has implications for any future civil action."
