Daniel turned five on the twelfth of March.
He requested, with the specificity of a child who had given the matter serious thought, a party with ships. Not a ship-themed party in the abstract — actual ships, if possible. Camila had explained the logistical difficulty of providing actual ships for a birthday party and they'd negotiated down to a party with ship things, which Daniel accepted as a reasonable compromise while maintaining that ships themselves would have been better.
The party was at the Intendente flat — twelve children from nursery, which was the full population of Daniel's current social world, plus Bianca and Clara and her mother and, in the category of people Camila had thought carefully about including and then included, Leonardo and Helena.
