When they arrived at Adonis’ villa, Zoe couldn’t believe her eyes. It was massive—elegant, modern, and screaming wealth. Everything about it, from the towering gates to the sleek architecture, showed just how rich he was.
Zoe stepped out of the car, looking around. “You live here?”
Adonis barely glanced at her as he adjusted his cufflinks. “You sound shocked.”
“I knew you were rich, but this?”
“Because I am a billionaire,” he said dryly, walking toward the entrance.
Inside, Zoe immediately noticed the rose petals leading up the stairs, candles flickering softly, setting a romantic ambiance.
Adonis sighed, rubbing his temples. “Gran has way too much time on her hands.”
Zoe smirked. “She clearly wanted to make our wedding night special.”
“Yeah, by turning my house into a honeymoon suite,” he muttered.
Zoe crossed her arms, looking around. “So… are we supposed to sleep together?”
Adonis scoffed. “What do you think?”
She shrugged. “Well, we are married now.”
He turned to her with a smirk. “Oh? So you’re saying we should just sleep together?”
Zoe rolled her eyes. “I didn’t say that.”
Adonis chuckled. “Relax, sweetheart. I have zero interest in you…old lady.”
She huffed. “Good. Because I don’t need you dying over me.”
He chuckled, shaking his head. “You’re insane.”
Adonis smirked, loosening his tie as he stepped closer. “Stop pretending, Zoe. Or should I say… Mrs. Walter?” His voice was low, teasing. “You’re drooling over me, admit it. I know exactly how happy you are to be married to Adonis Walter.”
Zoe folded her arms, rolling her eyes. “Over my dead body.”
“Oh, come on,” he said, shrugging off his tuxedo and letting it drop carelessly to the floor. “You get to have all this.”
He unbuttoned his shirt and tossed it aside, leaving his toned chest on full display. Defined abs, sharp collarbones, muscles that flexed with every slight movement—he looked like he walked straight out of a magazine.
Zoe’s eyes betrayed her for a split second before she quickly looked away. Damn it. Even if she disliked him, she couldn’t deny the truth.
This man was hot.
Zoe’s back pressed firmly against the bedroom door, rose petals scattered at her feet. Her heart raced, and she felt the weight of Adonis’ presence closing in on her. His shirt was unbuttoned, his bare chest visible, and his smirk only deepened as he stepped closer.
“We shouldn’t let all this go to waste,” he murmured, his voice low and commanding.
Zoe was taken aback. “What do you mean?” she asked, her voice trembling with confusion.
Adonis wrapped one arm around her waist, pulling her closer, while his other hand turned the door handle. The door opened to reveal a bedroom lit by flickering candles, the soft glow illuminating the rose petals scattered across the bed.
Zoe’s breath caught. “Get away from me,” she demanded, pushing against his chest, but he ignored her.
He lifted her effortlessly and carried her to the bed, tossing her down with surprising gentleness. Before she could react, he loomed over her, his lips dangerously close to hers.
Zoe squeezed her eyes shut, bracing herself. He leaned in, his breath warm against her skin. “Gotcha,” he whispered, a teasing smirk.
“I was just playing around, Zoe,” Adonis said with a smirk, pulling back slightly. “You’re not even my type, old lady.”
Zoe’s heart was still racing as she tried to regain her composure. She pushed herself up, glancing at him, her breath still shaky. “You think this is funny?” she snapped, though she couldn’t deny the frustration bubbling inside her.
Adonis just shrugged nonchalantly, his expression unreadable. “Relax, Zoe. I wasn’t going to kiss you. What i did at our wedding...was all for gran."
Zoe sat up fully now, her arms crossed defensively over her chest. She still couldn’t shake the feeling of his proximity, the heat from his body, even though he’d backed off. “You’re unbelievable,” she muttered under her breath, not even looking at him.
He leaned back casually, his arms resting behind his head. “You need to calm down. It’s just a little fun.”
Zoe huffed, frustrated but also slightly embarrassed by the way her heart had raced moments ago. “Yeah, well, I’m not in the mood for your games, Adonis.”
He raised an eyebrow. “You sure? Because you look like you were just about to enjoy the show.”
Zoe shot him a glare, but it was hard to stay mad at him with the way he was teasing her. Still, she wasn’t about to let him think he had any power over her.
“I have a woman I love,” Adonis said, his tone serious. “I told you before. She’s not aware of our marriage yet, and it’ll break her if she finds out.”
Zoe frowned. “Do you love her?” she asked, curious but guarded.
Adonis hesitated, his gaze distant. “I’ve grown tired of her, but I think I still love her. She’s too demanding. Seems like the only time she loves me is when she’s smiling to her bank account.”
Zoe watched him, surprised by the honesty in his words. She didn’t know what to say. “Sounds like a real love story,” she muttered sarcastically.
“Well, I’m tired of her,” Adonis continued, his voice low. “She broke up with me weeks ago and she’s currently out of town… If she comes back, I don’t know. She always comes back.
Adonis sighed, glancing at her. “But this time… I’m married. Married to you, Zoe.”
“And what about your brother?” Zoe asked, her curiosity piqued. “He didn’t seem too happy at our wedding.”
Adonis chuckled. “He probably wished he married you instead,” he teased. “But teasing aside, you’re very beautiful, Zoe.”
Zoe felt a flush rise to her cheeks. “Wished he married me? What do you mean?” She looked at him, trying to understand his words.
Adonis leaned back slightly, a knowing look in his eyes. “I can tell he likes you,” he said casually, his gaze drifting away for a moment.
Zoe frowned, processing his words. “What? Avron? You’ve got to be kidding me.”
He shrugged nonchalantly, a smirk tugging at his lips. “I’m serious. He was pretty upset at the wedding, wasn’t he?”
Zoe was silent for a moment, trying to picture it. “Well, I don’t know what he feels,” she replied, still a little thrown off.
“Let’s not talk about all that now,” Adonis said, his voice low, as he reached for her hand. “Let’s go to bed, Mrs. Walter. If we must sleep in the same room, you should take the couch.”
“Courtesy, Adonis,” Zoe replied, her tone laced with sarcasm.
Adonis sighed, rolling his eyes. “Alright, alright. I’ll take the couch, and you get the bed. Happy now?”
Zoe smirked, clearly pleased with the result. “Very.”
