Valentine's POV
Hours after my baby called me, we were sitting in her hospital room. The doctors wanted to keep her for a few more hours to run some tests, make sure that the paralytic didn't mess with her brain.
They had to stitch her head back up, she has a cast on both of her arms, a sling on her left, a fracture boot on her right leg and she has to use one crutch to walk.
She hasn't spoken a word since she woke up. And, I hate it. But, I know that she's going through a lot right now.
"Okay, Clary, you are free to go. Come back in a week and we'll check on your stitches." She nodded absently and grabbed her stack of clothes.
Dr. Jenkins left and I helped my baby get dressed, though I hated that when I touched her, even just a little, she flinched.
Robert had brought her some clothes about an hour ago, so she didn't have to wear the prom dress, which she was thankful for.
"Let's go home, princess." She stood up and moved her crutch underneath her right arm.
We took the elevator down to the first floor and caught a cab back home.
Still, she hadn't said a word.
"We're here, princess." I paid the driver and got out before going to Clary's side and helping her up.
We walked up the driveway and into the house. I was going to ask if she needed anything, but she just headed up the stairs, so I left her alone.
I walked back outside and sat on the steps, crying into my knees. "Val?" I looked up at Maryse and she sat down beside me. "What's wrong?"
"Clary. I don't know what happened, but Sebastian found her at the school and he raped her again." I cried into my hand.
"Oh my god. Where is she? How is she?"
"She's upstairs and I don't know how she is. She hasn't said a word in like four hours. Why does this keep happening to her, Maryse? She hasn't done anything to deserve it. Nothing."
"I don't know, Val. I'm so sorry." I nodded.
"I should get back inside, see if she needs anything."
"Call me if you guys need anything."
"I will." I walked back inside and wiped at my eyes before heading up the stairs and poking my head into Clary's room.
She laid with her back to me, under the covers. I could hear her crying and sniffling.
"Baby girl? You need anything?" She ignored me. "Let me know if you do. I'll be downstairs." I left her door cracked and headed back downstairs. "Fuck."
I sat on the couch and picked up my phone, seeing four missed calls from and unknown number, so I called it back.
"Hello?" I know that voice.
"Why the hell are you calling me, Jocelyn?"
"Because, I want to see my children. But, Clarissa hates me and Jonathan doesn't answer his phone when I call him."
"That's because he knows it's you. They don't want anything to do with you, so leave them alone. And, don't call Clary anymore. She's getting a new phone and a new number."
"Well, too bad, because I'm outside your house."
"What?" I stood up and opened the front door. There she stood. Jocelyn Fray, my ex-wife.
"Valentine. Nice to see you again." I texted Maryse.
"I can't say that I feel the same. Get off my property."
"I won't do that. I want to see my kids."
"You lost your right to them when I found out that I had a daughter and found out what you did to her." I looked to my right as Maryse exited her house and came to stand beside me. "I can't put my hands on a woman, but I know that Maryse here would have no problem with it."
"I'm not afraid of either one of you. Look, I'm clean and sober, I haven't had a drink or done drugs in at least six years. I made a new life for myself, but it's not the same without my children in it. I want to see them."
"After what you did to my daughter-"
"Our daughter." She tried to correct me.
"My daughter, when she was barely a toddler, you should be thankful that I haven't called the cops on you already." My jaw clenched in anger.
"I know that I made mistakes, but you have no right to keep them from me."
"Oh, I have every right."
"Leave, Jocelyn." Maryse stepped forward, forcing Jocelyn to step back.
"Fine. But, this isn't over. Not by a long shot." She got in her car and drove away.
"Thank you for coming over, Maryse." She nodded.
"Anything for you, Val. I'll be home all night if you need me."
"I appreciate it." We both walked inside our houses and I started on my paperwork as I sat on the couch.
I also ordered a couple of pizzas, knowing that the guys would be here soon.
"Dude, that was sick! This is why we're friends with you!" Jon and his friends came piling in the front door.
"Guys, be quiet, Clary's upstairs, I think she's sleeping." They immediately quieted down and plopped down on the couch.
"I was wondering where she went. Did you come to pick her up, or something?" I sighed.
"Or, something. Come with me, I need to tell you something." I stood.
"You can't tell me in front of the guys?" I shook my head. "Okay." He got up and followed me to my office. "What do you need to tell me?"
"Jon, something happened to your sister tonight." His smile dropped instantly.
"What do you mean? What happened?"
"Sebastian found her at the school and he, um-" The words seemed to have gotten caught in my throat, but Jon's watery eyes told me that he knew what I meant to say.
"No. He raped her again?" I nodded and he let the tears fall. "Why does this keep happening? Damn it." He sniffled and looked up at me. "Where was Jace?"
"I don't know. She hasn't spoken since she woke up at the hospital."
"She's not going mute on us, is she?"
"I hope not, but I have no clue. Also, don't touch her, she flinches." He nodded. "Go hang out with your friends."
He opened the door and walked back out there. I sat down at my desk and continued on with my paperwork.
My little girl has done nothing to deserve this.
I will make sure that it doesn't happen again.
Ever.
My little princess.
