Clary's POV
Two weeks later and I'm finally able to go home.
Dad helped me get dressed into sweatpants and a loose tank top before getting me into the wheelchair.
"All good, princess?" I nodded slightly and loosened the black beanie on my head, since they shaved a small part of my hair to do the surgery, I wanted to cover it up.
"Yeah." He pushed me out of the room, into the elevator and then out to the front of the hospital where Jon was waiting with the SUV.
"Hey, Clare." Jon opened the door to the backseat and dad helped me stand up, then helped me into the car.
Dad wrapped a blanket around me and I cuddled into it as he shut the door.
My eyes stayed closed the whole ride home, I was so tired.
"We're here, baby girl." I finally opened my eyes and looked up at our house.
Jon opened my door and dad grabbed my hand, pulling me up slowly until my feet touched the ground.
"Come on, babe." Dad held my hand and my lower back as we slowly walked inside, but he knew that I couldn't handle the stairs, so he picked me up bridal style and carried me to my room, then laid me down in bed.
"Can you get me a glass of water?" I asked and dad propped me up against the pillows, then tucked me in before leaving my room.
"You okay, Clare?"
"No." I situated myself into a more comfortable position. "I'm sorry that I'm not talking much, I just-" I sighed.
"I get it, babe." Dad came back in and handed me the water, letting me take a few sips and he set it on my bedside table.
"Go to sleep, sweetheart. Love you."
"Love you, too." I closed my eyes and let myself fall asleep.
Jon's POV
After Clary fell asleep, dad and I walked downstairs and ordered pizza, then started cleaning up.
"You holding up okay?" I looked up at my dad.
"I'm fine. I just want Clary to get better and that bastard to die." I folded up a blanket and set it over the back of the couch.
"You're not the only one." I smiled slightly and went to do the dishes.
My phone started ringing and I put it on speakerphone.
"Hey!"
"How's Clary?"
"Is she home?"
"Can we come see her yet?"
Great. Group call.
"She's home, she's asleep and I don't think she wants visitors just yet." I replied.
"But, can we come hang out with you and just see her later when she wakes up?" Gray.
"We'll be quiet." Reese.
"We promise." Aaron. I turned around to see my dad and he nodded.
"Come on over. Door's open." The call immediately ended and I kept on with the dishes.
"I will be back soon, I need to go pick up your sister's prescriptions."
"Okay. Have fun." He chuckled.
"Yeah, right."
The guys came over soon after and we hung out playing games, but it wasn't the same without Clare. It was more controlled, not all kinds of wild like usual.
"Do you think she's up yet?" Gray asked and I picked up my phone as it whistled.
"I'd say so. She just texted me, asking for another glass of water." Aaron raced to the kitchen.
"I got it!" I laughed and we all headed upstairs, but I made them wait out in the hall.
"Aaron's getting your water, babe." She nodded slightly, but then winced. "You up for some visitors?" I asked.
"I don't really have much choice, now do I?" She asked humorusly and I shook my head.
"Not so much. Boys, come on in." The guys stood beside me around he bed, awkwardly. Not knowing what to do. Or say.
"You look like shit." Reese commented and Tyler and Gray slapped the back of his head.
"I know." She mumbled. "Gotta wear a beanie to cover up my damn bald spot." She laughed lightly, but winced.
"You okay?" Gray asked.
"Just peachy. Guys, as much as I'd love for you to stay, I am still tired and would like to go back to sleep. You mind?"
"Nope." Gavin.
"Whatever will help you get better faster." Aaron.
"Thanks." She closed her eyes.
"We'll be downstairs, let us know if you need or want anything."
"Goodnight, Clare." I said and we left her alone after turning out the lights.
We made it back to the couch and plopped down on it.
"He really did a number on her." Aaron sighed.
"So, what's she gonna do about school?" Reese asked.
"She's taking a semester off, since she won't be able to make it to her classes without a wheelchair and the doc says she needs to take it easy for a while anyways."
"I hate that she's going through all of this." Gavin.
"Me too." I turned on the Xbox and we started playing. Jace, Alec and Magnus came over, too, not long after we started playing.
"Hey, where's your restroom?" Jace asked.
"Upstairs, third door on the left, but be quiet 'cause Clary's asleep." He nodded and went for the stairs.
Jace's POV
I walked upstairs and headed for the restroom, but sounds coming from the first door on the left stopped me in my tracks.
I pushed the door open just a little and looked to Clary squirming around in bed, her eyes closed as she let out little whimpers.
"Don't. Please." She whispered and I noticed the tears falling from her eyes.
She's having a nightmare.
What the hell happened to her? She looks so beaten.
Walking forward, I stopped beside her bed and touched her arm, which made her gasp as her eyes opened.
She looked up at me with fearful eyes before closing them and taking deep breaths before she opened them again.
"What are you doing in here?" She wiped at her eyes.
"You were having a nightmare, figured it best to wake you up."
"Whatever. Can you go now?" I turned and headed for the door, leaving her room and going to the restroom.
I washed my hands and returned to the guys downstairs.
"Your sister was having a nightmare when I went up there." I commented and they all looked to me.
"Is she okay?" Jonathan asked.
"I woke her up, she asked me to leave the room, so I did. What do you think she was dreaming about? Because she was saying some weird things."
"Like what?"
"Said, 'Please, don't.' Then I woke her up and she seemed scared of me for a minute. Was she in an accident, or something?"
"Or something. I'm gonna go check on her." He got up and disappeared up the stairs.
"So, what is up with his sister? She's different, like closed off." I asked the guys.
"She is closed off, but she is none of your business either. You leave her alone. She doesn't need to add dealing with you to her plate. Got it?" Aaron said forcefully.
"Whatever."
"No, you tell me that you'll leave her alone." Aaron insisted. Protective much?
"Fine. I'll leave her alone."
"Good."
Why does this girl have so many protectors? Her dad, Jonathan, Alec, Izzy, my parents.
Does she need protection?
Why would she?
Maybe all of this is just in my head.
But, maybe not.
Fuck.
