Asia

Luna Cynthia stood up from her chair and hugged the woman who had just entered the dining room with a big smile. She had an attractive appearance with sharp features. "Asia, I didn't know you were coming!" So, Asia was her name. “Surprise!” She smiled warmly and looked at Zylon. My mate remained rigid, his eyes void of emotion as he held her gaze. Suddenly, I felt protective of Zylon. I reached over the table and covered his hand with mine. That seemed to do the trick; his eyes immediately softened, and a slight smile appeared on his perfect, angel-like face. Asia noticed my actions and furrowed her eyebrows in surprise before turning her attention to Hayes. "Hello, nephews," she greeted, but no one answered her. The Luna cleared her throat, and the alpha twins both nodded at Asia rigidly. She turned her gaze to me. "Hi, and who, may I ask are you?" "Rue," I replied. Luna Cynthia smiled sweetly. "That's Ruby Rue Rothwell. She's mated to Hayes and Zylon," she explained. Recognition flickered in Asia's eyes, and she nodded. "Little Rue? You're quite a gorgeous young lady. I can't believe it!" She took a seat across from Zylon. "Love the glow-up," she winked. Asia was Luna Cynthia's distant cousin. According to Luna, she had spent a lot of time here when the boys were younger and used to babysit them. Asia piled food onto her plate and began to eat slowly. "I can't believe my boys found their mate. They talked about you a lot, you know, Rue," she said. I raised my eyebrows in surprise. The twins beside me growled lowly, sounding like a warning, but Asia didn't seem intimidated. "They didn't like you. For some reason, they found you quite… I quote, annoying, and the least interesting girl to look at in the pack. But look at them now," she smiled sweetly. I went rigid at her words, feeling pale and unsteady. I was reminded again that Hayes and Zylon hated me, which was strange because I had never done anything wrong to them. I removed my hand from Zylon's. He whimpered at the loss of contact. "Asia, please," Luna Cynthia said "Oh, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that," was Asia's response, but she didn't sound sorry at all. Hayes held my thigh under the table, but suddenly I didn't want him to. I stood up abruptly. "I should leave. I'll get Beth." Without waiting to be excused, I pushed my chair back and left the room. I walked away softly, my chin held high. "Oops, I think I did something terrible," I heard Asia say. I was in the hallway, away from the dining area, breathing in and out. Images I had tried to banish from my mind returned with full force—memories of my mate's cruel jokes, laughter and taunting. Why didn't they like me? Why? They didn't have to, but they shouldn't have been mean to me either. And I was ready to let it go. "Ruby," I paused, not wanting to turn to them. I attempted to go into the game room, but Hayes grabbed me and push me against the wall. I had half the mind to punch him. We were close—too close—but I couldn't raise my eyes to meet his. "Please don't leave like this," his voice was pleading. I wanted to demand that he release me, but I was afraid my voice would break. I didn't want to cry. Instinctively, I raised my free hand and used my telekinesis to push him against the wall. Zylon attempted to come to me, but I did the same to him. His back pressed against the wall. They struggled to free themselves, but were unable to break free. "I don't want you close to me for now," I said quietly. "Please respect my decision." I went to the game room. Beth immediately noticed my expression and asked, "Are you alright?" "I want to go home," I cried. She hugged me and nodded. "Let's go." Beth took my hand, and we left a dumbfounded Manon behind. When we stepped out of the game room, Hayes and Zylon were still in the hallway, looking worried. Beth glared at them, immediately understanding they were the reason I was upset. I walked past them but stopped and turned to face them, anger surging through me. Suddenly, a large dark cloud formed over them and it rained heavily only where they were, drenching their clothes. They cursed lowly, "we deserve that." Beth laughed, and I turned, leaving them soaked. I still didn't know how I did that. As we walked home, I could sense my mates following us discreetly. "Didn't you just manifest telekinesis and weather manipulation earlier this morning. How come you're already using it at such an advanced level?" Beth asked. 'I'm a genius, like our father. So advancing our powers is no big deal. I'm only worried about control,' Ria said proudly. Indeed, I could use the magic within me freely, but I couldn't control it. My emotions did. Ria said it was dangerous. I should ask Tate if the alphas managed to get in touch with Master Asahi. " Ria said we are naturally talented," I relayed the message. " Good for you," As we reached my place, we headed straight for the kitchen because Beth was starving after playing all those games. I grimaced at the sight before me. Tate and Cindy were making out on the kitchen island. "Eew, stop, we eat from there!" I whined. They turned to me, both smiling. This was new. They hadn't been all lovey-dovey lately. Tate's gaze landed on my best friend, who was frozen in the kitchen entrance. "Hi, Holliwould," he winked. Cindy only forced a smile. "Beth, come in," I gestured. She nodded and walked in, sitting at a barstool. "Is there food?" I asked Tate. "Warming right now," Tate replied, placing Cindy on another barstool. He went to the microwave and started warming up the dishes. Once he finished, he served Cindy first and then Beth. I was still full from the meal I had at the alpha's house. "Congratulations on the ad campaign, Beth. I hear you'll be getting more of them," Tate suddenly said. Beth worked in advertising and occasionally appeared in ads. When she was featured in a shoot, sales would increase. It was clear her career was taking off, and I was happy for her. "Thanks," Beth replied, pink flushing her cheeks. "But you know they only want you for your boobs, ass, and that sultry voice because you appeal to more men, right?" Cindy said. I narrowed my gaze at her, even Tate shot her glare. Cindy shrugged and put down her fork. "It's true. Have you seen what they put her in, babe? The pictures and ads she's been in so far feature her in bikinis, showcasing her cleavage and ass," Cindy continued. "She's attractive, and if that helps her earn money and advance her career, I see nothing wrong with that. They can only look, and not touch, right?" Tate shrugged while sipping his tea. Cindy gasped and shot him a glare, then looked at Beth. Beth was now blushing deeply. Hmm, she never blushed, especially not around Tate. " I agree, brother. Plus, Beth is doing a great job and is well-liked," I added. "Yeah, well-liked.. her boobs are," Cindy sneered. "That's enough!" Tate warned. "I don't feel like eating anymore. Can we just go to sleep?" Beth said, sounding resigned. "I'll grab you a snack," I murmured, taking two pears from the fridge and following her out. After taking a shower, we climbed into bed. We didn't chat much that night, both lost in our thoughts. I was thinking about Asia and the twins' reaction to her. I needed to find out what was going on. I was half-asleep when a strange feeling washed over me. Ria became uneasy. I recognized this feeling. I got out of bed and went to the window, scanning the backyard, but there was nothing there. Returning to bed, I suddenly felt a tap against my balcony door. I woke up and went to check, my heart racing. On the floor lay a familiar piece of paper. I cautiously picked it up and opened it. "I WANT YOU. WE SHOULD MEET, CHOSEN WARRIOR WOLF."
