Kiss

The man stopped and assessed me with sharp grey eyes that looked like Hugo's. His eyebrows were slightly raised, and then, slowly, a smile crept onto his face, wrinkling the corners of his eyes. "Hello, young lady," his voice was surprisingly soft. "Hi," I replied, my voice feeling a bit strangled. The man glanced over at Jay, who stood stoic and almost irritated. I looked between the two; they didn't seem alike at all, even in their appearance. "Jason, I didn't know you were home. I'm happy to see you, son," he said. Jay remained stiff, but introduced us. "This is my friend Rue. Rue, this is my father, Heath Barlowe.” I noticed something flash in the man's eyes as he extended his hand to me, but before I could shake it, Jay took my hand instead. "We should leave. You have that thing with your mom, remember?" he said. "It was nice to meet you, sir," I said as Jay hurriedly led me out. "You're walking too fast." He stopped and turned to me. "Sorry." We got in the car and just stood there. "So, your dad..." "We're not very close anymore," he replied. "Why?" "We want different things in life," he forced a smile. I didn't want to press further. Instead of taking me home, we decided to grab donuts and milkshakes at a café. We spent our time laughing and chatting about everything—mostly about his career and his love for video games. Jay was a familiar to our kind, and thought werewolves were cool, unlike most humans who are terrified or think we are just myths. By the time we left the café, it was late, and my mom was calling me. "Mom, I'm on my way," I told her. "We were supposed to go there together, honey." "I know, and I'm sorry. Please bring a pair of jeans and a top for me. I'll change at the pack house." "What happened to your clothes?" she asked. "Someone pushed me into the pool with my clothes as a joke," I explained. "Are you okay? That's not funny at all. I watched a video where a girl was thrown into the pool and ended up paralyzed, Rue..." "I'm fine, Mom. It was all in good fun," I interrupted her. I loved her dearly, but she worried too much. "I'll see you soon. Love you," I ended the call. "Mom's new to the internet and watches a lot of videos," I mumbled. "She sounds like a good mom," he said, a faraway look in his eyes. "She is," I replied. Once at the pack house, I opened the car door and stepped out. Jay came to my side, "Are you staying?" He looked at the imposing pack house and shook his head. "I have practice in the morning." "Okay," "Can I get a hug before I leave?” I snaked my arms around his waist, and his arms wrapped around me. I heard a growl, and we pulled away from each other. "MINE!" Hayes was stepping towards me, glaring at the guy beside me. He was going to kill him. Jay was human and couldn't defend himself against an alpha. I went to Hayes before he could reach us and did the only thing I could to save Jay's life. I held his chest to calm him, and he froze. I kept on rubbing his hard chest, which was vibrating with anger. It was said that a mate's touch can soften anger, and it was true. I looked back at Jay and mouthed to him to leave. Jay raised an eyebrow, a slight hint of amusement and stubbornness. "Mine? Are you property, Rue?" he mocked. Hayes growled at him, and I shooed him with my hand to get into the car and leave. He did so reluctantly, "See you later, Rue!" Jay waved slowly, his intense hazel eyes on Hayes, as if mocking him. Hayes growled again, and almost charged, but my friend drove off at incredible speed. I pulled away from him and snapped at Hayes. "What were you about to do?" "Why were you hugging him? The only man you should be hugging is me!" "I can hug whoever I want to hug. I'm not yours, f**k off," I snapped. He grabbed my arm as I turned to leave and crashed his lips on mine. I was defenseless, and my body betrayed me as it went pliant. My hands fell to my side as he kissed me. I felt heat wash over me. I have never been kissed like that before. It was savage and passionate, making a claim. My wolf took over and kissed him back with the same fire. Our tongues stroked each other. He was hot, and I was hotter. I wanted his mouth all over me, everywhere! He pulled away slowly and cupped my face. He had a satisfied look on that dangerously gorgeous face of his. "You're mine," he breathed, his thumb stroking my lips. My heart was still racing, and my body was trembling at the intensity of that kiss. "You'll always be mine," he repeated. I was too stunned to speak. Hayes rested his forehead against mine and repeated the words You're mine. I heard footsteps in the distance, and then a gasp. I pulled away from him. Begonia was watching us. She turned and ran in the opposite direction, crying. I wanted to slap Hayes and push him away from me, but who was I kidding? I enjoyed that more than I'd ever admit. And something happened between my thighs. It was wet. I jerked back from him, my hands slightly shaking, and he held me. I revolted from him and, without a word, went past him. Shit. Zylon was watching us. He was placid. I didn't know how long he had been standing in the dark corner. I felt guilty. Why though? I went past him to the back. The party was happening in full swing. It was lively; pack members were drinking, and others were dancing. Overall, everyone was having a good time. Mom was at my side, looking me up and down with a frown. "Whose clothes are those?" she asked. "My friend's," I answered and took the bag she brought. I went to the bathroom in the packhouse to change. I scowled at the dress she packed for me. It was a blue dress that fell just below the mid-thigh. " Of course," I quickly changed into it and went back to the party. As soon as I arrived, I felt arms around me. I turned abruptly to see Manon smiling at me. "Welcome back, Manon," I said, hugging her again. Manon and I weren't the best of friends, but we got along well before she went abroad. She had changed and was prettier. She cut her long blonde hair into a French bob. It suited her. " I heard about what my i***t brothers did. I'm so so so sorry," she frowned. " I couldn't believe it when mom told me, but don't worry, I gave them hell for it." “ I believe you,” Manon hugged me again. She was a hugger, I guess. “You smell like Hayes, but there's another scent on you, it's intoxicating,” she grumbled the last part. “ I'm using a new body spray. It's lovely, I'll show you,” she looked at me for a moment and nodded. I asked about her studies. She had completed her course in software engineering and was at the top of her class. The rest of the party was a blast, especially when Ael and Beth came. We drank wine, though not too much, because Mom was glancing at me often. In the corner of my eye, I caught my brother watching us... Not me, but Beth. " Why is my brother looking at you?" I asked her. " I don't know. Tate's... weird sometimes," she murmured, shrugging her shoulder, but she didn't sound too confident in her answer. I didn't push it any longer and continued to dance softly, twirling and turning, dancing with everyone I could. The live band playing at the party started a fast, joyous song, and we danced to its rhythm, letting loose as the music filled us. I finally stumbled away from the dance center and went to the drinks table. I think I was a little drunk. ' You're a drunk,' Ria giggled. I picked up a glass, but it slipped out of my hands. I waited for the crash sound, but it didn't; someone had caught it. The man looked up slowly, and I halted. My breath caught in my chest as deep blue eyes stared at me. "T- thanks," I murmured, getting the glass from Zylon. I struggled to open my bottle of water, and he got it from my hands and opened it for me. I drank the water. However, it didn't make me feel better. I stumbled as I attempted to leave, but he caught me. " You drank so much wine," he said softly, " I'm not drunk," I snorted. Zylon only chuckled. " Well, I'm not!" I snapped. " Would you like to take a night walk? The wine might wear off," "No," I said and went back to the dance floor. The musicians were about to start a new song. Zylon leaned against a tree, watching me dance with a soft smile on his lips. His eyes were alight with joy, and it pleased me. I went to him after the third song and wrapped my arms around his waist, “ Take me home, Zylon,” I slurred. His chest vibrated, and I felt him kiss the top of my head. He carried me in his strong arms, and I rested my head against his warm chest as he started to walk.
