NOAH'S POV.
She was everything I thought she wasn't, and it left me with a disturbed feeling and an exhilarating feeling at the same time.
There is no doubt that this is fate. She saved my life once, and though she doesn't remember it, the memory was drilled deep into my head, and it would be extremely difficult for me to ever forget that.
She doesn't know it yet, but even now she is slowly pulling me out of the darkness that was threatening to drown me.
Just like eighteen years ago, she was saving me again.
I got dressed in a white T-shirt and black baggy pants, and I went out of my room to join her in the living room.
She was already dressed and waiting for me. Her clothes were the usual blouse and shorts, but she still managed to look so beautiful.
"Noah!" She exclaimed happily at the sight of me. She studied my dress up, and she whistled boyishly. "Man, you clean up really good."
My jaw clenched, and I looked away from her. It was my way of trying to stop a blush from creeping up my cheeks. It covers the fact that she always makes me feel so flustered. "Stop smiling at me like that!" I snapped. I always say the opposite of what I'm feeling when it comes to her.
She didn't lose her smile as she came towards me and linked her arm with mine. I stiffened for a second at her unexpected touch, but was quick to relax into it.
"Why don't you just admit that you like it when I smile at you like this?" She was looking up at me and smiling sweetly with our arms still linked, and I kept my eyes away from her, my jaw clenched tightly.
"No! I don't like it!" I denied and roughly pulled my arm out of her hold. I hurried out of the house hearing her laughing behind me, and the blush finally let itself loose.
"Do you even know the direction we are headed to?" She asked from behind me when she noticed me still going straight ahead.
I stopped, realizing that I had no idea where we were going.
Ava noticed, and she used the opportunity to catch up with me and link our arms once again. "Don't worry, I'll lead you," she said with a smile.
I looked down at her, ignoring the way my heart was beating rapidly in my chest. Even when we were kids, she made me feel so safe. She kept me safe and rescued me from that horrible incident eighteen years ago. The scar on her wrist was proof of that, and it's delightful to know that she hasn't changed at all.
I trusted this wife of mine a lot, but I'm not going to tell her that yet.
"Fine! But I'm only letting you hold my arm because you know the way and I don't." That is actually a big lie. I'm allowing her to hold me because I'm enjoying her touch.
She nodded without care like she doesn't believe me, and I smiled internally. It seems like she can read me really well now.
It was my first time taking a walk around the ranch in a long time, and I was surprised to see that a lot of things had changed. The trees have grown taller, and the flowers were much more colorful and beautiful.
"You're missing out on a lot of beauty if you say you hate colors, lights and the sun." Ava let go of my arm, and I instantly missed her warmth. She leaned down and plucked out a beautiful red rose from a nearby rose garden, and I watched her with a feeling of fondness as she brought the flower to her nose with a beautiful smile on her face. "It's beautiful don't you think?" She asked sweetly.
My dazed mind didn't realize when I replied, "yes you are." Her expression morphed into shock, and when I realized what I just said, I quickly took back the words. "I mean, yes it is."
She smirked knowingly, but didn't pursue the conversation, and for that I was grateful.
"Miss Ava?" We heard a voice call out, and I glanced over my shoulder to find an unfamiliar middle aged man standing there.
"Greg!" Ava exclaimed in delight as she dropped the rose flower in her hand. "We were just on our way to see you guys."
The man Greg stared at Ava for a moment, and then his eyes caught sight of me. They widened like soccer balls. "Y_ Young master?!" He stuttered like he could not believe his eyes. As for me, I don't know the guy, and I felt awkward by my lack of recognition.
Unsure of what to say, I let out a low "hello."
The man still looked stupefied. "I_ I didn't know you were with the young master, Miss Ava." He smiled warmly, "you guys are in luck, because it's my daughter's birthday today, and we are having a party at my house. I wanted to invite you Miss Ava, but I never see you outside your house."
"I guess we have a perfect timing then," Ava agreed. She was smiling in delight.
The man glanced at me again, "it's an honour to see you here, young master. The others will be glad," he cooed like an excited kid, and I grew curious. Why does he look so happy about seeing me? He barely knows me.
Without much talk, we followed him to his house, and he chatted freely with Ava, while I lingered behind them.
We got to his place, a small house compared to mine, but decent enough for anyone to live in. Greg went in, and Ava came towards me after noticing that I was reluctant to go in.
"Why are you so stiff?" She asked with a hint of concern. "Loosen up okay? They are all good people."
Ava held my hand and lead me into the small house. I was instantly welcomed with the delicious scent of home cooked food and people making a noise, like they were all talking at once.
When they all noticed my presence, silence washed over the place. The six adults in the room all stared at me in shock. I felt uncomfortable, why are they all looking at me like I was some kind of god?
A woman who was holding a plate and wearing an apron, dropped the plate on the dinning table and came towards me. "Young master, it is such an honour to have you here!"
"I wanted to tell you guys, but I decided to let it be a surprise," Greg said happily. "Miss Ava brought him along."
"Please don't just stand there young master, come in and have a seat," Romeo offered, and all spranged into action, clearing a space for me to sit. Before I knew it, I was pushed into a chair at the dinning table.
They heaped up a plate with food, fruits and vegetables for me to eat, and they fussed over me like I was a celebrity.
I know these people knows my condition, but no one brought it up. They all treated me with love, care and concern like I never experienced before. My heart was warming up at the show of so much love.
I glanced up at Ava. She was still standing apart from us, watching as my employees took care of me. She caught me staring and smiled pleasantly at me.
For the first time ever, I was thankful for the decision my parent made for me.
