AVA'S POV.
Everyone crowded around Noah asking him questions and conversing with him. It's obvious that his presence really delighted them. As we ate, I was introduced to Greg's wife, as well as Romeo's wife and also Sam's wife. They were all extremely beautiful women even though they were older.
They were the ones who seem the more pleased at Noah's presence, and they thanked me to no end for convincing Noah to come.
Noah didn't say much, but I could tell that he was comfortable. He answered their questions like a polite young man, and I was glad that he was no longer the moody prick I met at the beginning.
"I'm happy to see you two getting along," Greg began while we were all settled at the dinning table. "I knew you could do it Ava."
Romeo sniffed, wiping away fake tears from his eyes. "I can't believe you are really a taken woman now. I was thinking of marrying a second wife."
Romeo's wife slapped him harshly at the back of his head, and my eyes widen, while the others laughed. "Say that again, and I'll pull out all your teeth!" She threatened in a scary voice, and Romeo fell silent.
We continued chatting over our meal, and after that, Greg suggested that we play some karaoke. He sang and his little daughter danced happily in funny dance steps that made everyone laugh.
Next Romeo sang while I danced. I wasn't much of a dancer, and everyone proved it by laughing so hard at me.
After a while, Romeo raised a suggestion. "Young master, it's your turn to sing."
Everyone stared at Noah, and his eyes widened. "N_ no, I'll pass. I can't sing."
"Romeo is the worst singer in this gathering, but yet we tolerated his voice. I am sure your voice would not be that bad," Romeo's wife encouraged, and Romeo glared at her.
I decided to put in, "common Noah, it's not that hard. Just sing anything you want."
He stayed silent for a second, and finally agreed. "Okay," everyone cheered, and Noah stood up and took the mic from Romeo. I adjusted on my seat excited to hear him sing.
Noah selected a song, and then turned to face us. "I'm singing paradise by ray."
The melody came on, sweet and captivating, and when Noah began singing, the world around us went black, and all I could see was him.
The world is getting uglier every single day yeah.
We are living in a world where it's hard for the poor to breath.
The struggle is tough,
You know it
I know it
Everybody knows it yeah
We are suffering much,
It's chocking us
And this world
Isn't where we wanna be now
Paradise
Take me there to paradise
Paradise
I wanna go to paradise babe.
Noah's voice was nice, sweet and calming, and we were all entranced by it. Not only is he an amazing artist, he's also an amazing single. Noah is truly gifted.
He sang passionately for a while, and when he was done, there was silence for a second as we took in his amazing performance, then we all busted into a heavy applause.
"Your voice is better than Romeo's," Romeo's wife praised.
"Even Justin Bieber can't hold a candle compared to you," the others agreed.
Noah lowered his head shyly, and he dropped the mic before hurrying to his seat.
Someone else took over the mic, and I used that opportunity to ask Noah. "You're a painter, a singer, a billionaire. What else are you hiding?"
"Mind your business!" He snapped with a clench jaw, and I shook my head with a smile. Noah is really something else.
After everything, the party was finally over, and Noah and I got up to leave. "I'm sorry I didn't bring any gifts. I had no idea it was a birthday party," Noah apologized to Greg and his family.
Greg's wife brushed it off, "don't worry young master. Your presence here is gift enough for us. Please do come again some other time."
"I'll make sure of it," I assured them and they smiled before bidding us goodbye, so we returned home.
As we walked back to the house side by side, there was a calming and comfortable silence between us. The hostility that usually surrounds Noah was no longer there, and although we didn't say a word to each other, it was obvious that something has really changed between us this time.
We arrived home and went into the house. Noah stood in the middle of the living room not making a move to go to his own room, and I stood behind him wondering if he had anything to say.
Finally, after some seconds, he spoke, "you know, you're right." He didn't look at me as he went on speaking. "I don't really value my life because it's too short. I felt like there's no way I can ever be happy. I felt like it was useless to make friends knowing I would leave them all behind soon, but today I saw how it feels to be surrounded by people who cares."
I said nothing and just listened. This was not the time to tease him. Noah was opening up to me, and I'm not going to take advantage of that.
"I wouldn't have experienced this feeling if you hadn't come into my life Ava, and for that I want to say this," he faced me squarely, and my heart stopped as he smiled brightly, "thank you."
Just like always, Noah didn't reply or wait for a reaction from me. He walked briskly to his own side of the house, and I was still standing there in shock and disbelieve.
Noah Edwards just smiled, and said thank you to me.
Noah Edwards just smiled at me.
A wide smile lit up my face, and I felt my heart beating in happy gentle beats. I twirl around in the living room, feeling extremely happy.
He smiled at me.
I slumped on the couch with a happy sigh. I guess this means that I am really making progress.
