CHAPTER 9.

AVA'S POV. Five days passed in a blur, and I was more than prepared for what I have planned out for Noah. I made sure to keep an eye out for when he would be going out. He always appears and disappears, and so I was cautious and watchful or I might miss him when he leaves. Luckily for me, I noticed a black Benz pulling up in front of the house, and a black SUV followed suit. Men in black suits climbed down from the car and surrounded it. They looked like they were waiting for someone, and I knew instantly that Noah was leaving now. I freshen up and ran out of my room to go join him before he leaves without me. Luckily for me, Noah was almost getting into the car when I rushed out. "Hey wait! I want to come with you!" I called out, and he paused I'm opening the car door. He stared at me for a moment before raising a single brow, "why do you want to come with me, and why do you even think that I will let you come with me?" I tried not to let his pretty face affect me. Why does he look so good in his simple white shirt and loose jeans. His hair that fell around his face made him look like an Asian celebrity. I kind of have a thing for them, especially Korea guys. I quickly shook off my stupid thoughts. What the hell am I thinking? "You are going grocery shopping right?" I asked. "And how does where I am going concern you?" His tone was cold, and blank, and I knew it should annoy me, but I sort of found him hot. Okay Ava, I think you are finally going insane. How can I be thinking about Noah in such a way when my fiancee James is out there waiting for me? I really must be losing my mind. Pushing the thought out of my mind, I refocus my mind on the conversation " I want to get some things for myself too, so I have to come with you." "You can go on a different day! I don't want you anywhere close to me." "But you are the one who said that you hated it when I go in and out of the house. It would be better if I go with you once and for all." His eyebrows twitched in annoyance, and he was silent for a moment, then he said tightly. "Fine! You can come, but I don't want to hear your voice or even hear you breath close to me. Stay in your lane!" I tried not to roll my eyes, but I replied anyway. "Roger that." He got into the car and I went round to the other side to get in beside him. One of the stoic looking guard opened the door for me, and I got in thanking him. I settled beside Noah in the back seat of the car and I felt slightly uncomfortable. For some reason, the air was tense. I couldn't help but risk a glance at Noah. He has brought out his phone and was scrolling through it without care. I took this as an opportunity to study him properly. His lashes were really long, and his expression stone cold. Even with that expression on his face, he still looks so handsome. I wonder how he would look with a smile on his face. "I don't like it when people stare so fixedly at my face!" He snapped out of the blue, but his eyes was still fixed on his phone. "Oh sorry," I apologized, looking away from him. He is seriously so moody. I mean would it hurt for him to chill even for a little while? At least smile once in a while. Unconsciously, I found myself blurting, "you know, you can get wrinkles if you keep frowning. You'll get old before you know it." "I'm not scared of old age. After all I'll be dying young. I don't have to worry about that," he said it so blankly like dying was something normal. I found myself feeling sorry for him once again, and I grew more determined to make sure he has a little fun, even just for today. After those words, silence fell between us and the atmosphere grew tense and awkward. Neither of us said a word until we got to our destination. The grocery store was a small store located a few blocks away from the Edward's ranch. It was one of the biggest in town. Of course I should have known that the Edwards wouldn't shop anywhere else. Without a word, Noah climbed down from the car, and I quickly followed. He was already hurrying towards the entry when I went round the car to catch up with him. "Hey, hold on Noah. Not so fast!" I called out, and he stopped instantly causing me to almost bump into him. He turn to me with an annoyed expression, "I want you to keep a reasonable distance from me. Don't act like you know me. Do your shopping quietly and let's leave quietly." I nodded, even though I felt like punching his face. Does he have to be a prick about every single thing? As we walked, the guards followed closely behind us, and it felt sort of awkward for me. I have never had guards following me around. I stopped a few distance away from the double doors and stared at them, "are you guys seriously going to follow us in?" Noah had long gone inside. He didn't really care about them coming in, I on the order hand was just looking for a way to carry out my plans. "Our job is to follow the young master everywhere he goes and make sure he is safe," one of them answered seriously. "It's okay. You don't have to this time. I will keep an eye on him." I assured them. They glance at themselves unsurely, "Miss I don't think..." "Noah isn't comfortable with the way you guys are following him so closely. I will keep watch on him and alert you if anything goes wrong. Just wait here for us." They didn't seem convinced, but eventually they agreed and I hurries into the grocery store widely searching for Noah. I went over rolls and rolls of shelves, until I found him at the place where materials for painting were kept. Without thinking, I raced towards him and grabbed his wrist causing the tool in his hand to fall to the floor. "What the..." "Come with me!" I cut him off and pulled him along with me. He followed in a stunned silence to my relief. We hurried to the back side of the store, and I hope to God that this place has a back door. Thankfully, it does have a back door, and I quickly pulled Noah out with me. The guards were still waiting at front beside the car, and all they needed was a side glance to catch sight of us. "Hurry!" I said to Noah who was surprisingly quiet as we ran. "Miss! Young master!" At the sound of the guards voice, I increased my pace, holding Noah's hand firmly in mine. The guards were behind us, calling out to us, but we didn't stop. We got to an alley, and I quickly pushed Noah into it against the wall. "You really..." "Shhhh," I hushed him, covering his mouth with my palm. Our bodies were pressed against each other and our faces extremely close. His blue eyes were staring into mine in confusion, and for a moment all we did was stare at each other without speaking. "Where did they go?" We heard one of the guards say, and that broke the moment for us. I pulled away from Noah in a panicked daze. Are they going to catch us? Would all my plans and efforts go to waste? I was still contemplating what to do when a hand grabbed my wrist. Before I could register who it was, Noah was already pulling me towards the other end of the alley way where there was an opening. "There they are!" The guards found us, and I quickened my pace along with Noah who held tightly unto my hand. I was breathing hard from the exercise, and also from his tingling touch. We burst out from the other side of the alleyway. Wthout wasting time, Noah hailed a cab and we hurriedly got in. The guards finally caught up to us, but it was too late. Our taxi was already driving away. We both tried to catch our breaths, and the middle aged driver stared at us through the rearview mirror. "Did you guys run a marathon or something?" Noah glared at me, "can you explain what the hell you think you're doing?" I bit my lips and fidgeted nervously. How am I going to explain myself?
