AVA'S POV.
Unsure of how to answer his question, I remain silent and I could tell that it annoyed him.
The cabby was the one who broke the tense silence. "Um, you guys haven't told me where you are going?"
"Kingstone Amusement park." I replied barely above a whisper.
I risked a glance at Noah and found him staring at me in shock. "And why are we going there?" He sounded genuinely confused.
"Well, I sort of saw the painting you made of the place, and I asked Greg and the others. They said you have always wanted to go there but your parent won't let you, and so I thought maybe we can go there together." I rubbed my neck shyly after saying that. Why did I sound weird?
Noah frowned, "first of all, who is Greg?"
I gave him a deadpan look, "seriously Noah, they are your employees at the ranch. How would you know about them when you keep yourself locked up in the house everyday?"
He scowled at me. "Don't scold me about that. What use is getting to know them when I'll leave them all behind anyway."
That statement annoyed me for some reason and I got angry. "You told me not to feel sorry for you, but you're the one feeling the most sorry for yourself. Don't use your condition as an excuse! You of all people have to live your life. You don't have much time. You have to do what you want and associate with people who loves you. Be surrounded by positive energy all the time and forget about dying. You are not dead yet, so live and be happy!"
Noah stared at me speechless, and for the first time ever, there was no hate in his eyes. The darkness faded a bit. He opened his mouth to say something, but the cabby interrupted clearing his throat.
"She's right man. Yeah you may be dying, but you're still breathing right now. You have to make the most of it. Not everyone has that opportunity."
I shot him a grateful look, "thank you sir."
"You're welcome," he smiled politely. "On a second note, we are at Kingstone Park."
"Ah thanks!" I deep my hands into my demin shorts pocket, searching for some money, but Noah quickly took out his wallet and handed him some money.
"Keep the change," he said blankly and climbed out of the car. I could tell that the money was much seeing the cabby's eyes widen.
"Um, thanks again." I followed after Noah who was already standing outside staring at the huge gates leading to the amusement park.
"I never thought I'll ever come here again." He spoke absentmindedly to himself, but I heard him loud and clear.
"You've been here before?" I asked with a frown. I thought Greg said he has never been here.
His expression hardened, "it's non of your business!" He snapped and went ahead of me into the amusement park.
I pouted I'm disappointment. Still a prick I see. I'm definitely going to do something about that.
I quickly ran to catch up to him. "So, what are we doing first? There are a lot of games we can play. We can ride the ferris wheel or maybe the merry go round."
I thought he was going to get mad and snapped at me again, but to my surprise he said "I have never ridden on a ferris wheel."
My heart instantly grew warm. At least we are making progress. I decided to tease him a bit, "do you want to ride on it?"
He glared at me, "stop asking me stupid questions and let's go ride the damn thing!"
Oops, so much for making progress.
We both headed in the direction of the ferris wheel with me in the lead. After making payment, we went in and sat on either side of the place.
It began to move slowly and Noah jumped in his seat, "woah!"
"Calm down buddy. You don't have to be scared."
He glared at me, "I never said I was scared." I scoffed unable to hold back a smile. "Stop smiling like that!" He snapped again, angrily looking away from me.
Silence filled the place again. It was cute watching Noah. He couldn't sit still, and I could tell he was scared. He may try to hide it by keeping a stone cold expression on his face, but his eyes were really expressive.
"s**t! Why are we so high?" He mumbled to himself quickly looking away from the window.
I grew concerned and asked with a teasing tone. "Do I have to hold your hand?"
He glance at me for a moment, and I saw in his eyes that he was considering it, but he scowled and looked away. "I'm not a kid. Stop nannying me!"
I shook my head and stood up from my own side approaching him. It's obvious that he says one thing but means another.
"Common, let me hold your hand. It looks like you are about to s**t yourself in fear."
"f**k off!" He snapped again and I gave up. This guy is seriously so difficult.
I shrugged, "well suit yourself."
I was about to return to my seat when the wheel jerked a little. I stumbled at the force and fell backwards with a yelp, landing right on Noah's lap.
My eyes widen in horror, but I could not tell what expression was on Noah's face because my back was to him.
I shut my eyes in distress. I am seriously going to get it this time. Of all places I should have landed, I landed on his lap.
"I'm so sorry." I apologized quickly and made to get up, but his hand held my arm firmly causing me to remain on his lap.
"Stay." The words were spoken in a mumble, "just until the ride is over."
I was shocked by his words. Does he seriously want me to remain seated on his lap like this? This is quite a very intimate position.
I hope this doesn't mean that I am cheating on James.
I pushed the thought out of my mind and made to glance over my shoulder at Noah, but he tightened his hold on my arm keeping me in place.
"You better not look at me, or I'm going to push you off."
I burst out laughing at his words against my will. I had no idea Noah Edwards was this cute. A prick, but he's cute regardless.
Now I have a bit of hope that we might become friends, and maybe he would end up falling in love with me and my plan with James would work out.
