Chapter 5: StakeoutWhen he arrived at the rendezvous, Vera was waiting for him. She shook her head, frowning. “You’re late!” But she said the words without much energy. He looked at his watch, and saw he was only five minutes late, so he shrugged and Vera said no more. They headed off. The stakeout, apparently, was in the seedy part of the city, between the downtown core and the warehouse area adjacent to the docks.
